Here’s a note from Jim Wade. He’s been there managing the dome and coaching soccer from the day it was inflated. He spent many nights sleeping in the clubhouse during bad storms to keep an eye on the Dome. He has give so much for so little for over 20 years. Thank you for Everything Jim! The pic below is Jim’s last camp at the dome last month.

I have had several nice notes from folks which I greatly appreciate. my time running the Dome goes back over twenty one years, pre Seacoast to Coastal Soccer, and I was there when the Dome was put up in December of 2000. My hat goes off to Brendon for taking the Dome on and putting so much hard work into keeping it up and running, we both are feeling sadness at the end of an era. The Dome literally served thousands and thousands of kids, adults, players, with so many different types of sports through all it's years. It will be sorely missed.

Our old Dome came down early this morning due to the snow and then rain. Sorry to say that it looks to be irreparable. Working on assessing things now. For any groups scheduled in the dome please reach out to me later to work on refunds.

We’re looking for a boys highschool soccer team to play at the dome tomorrow (Saturday) at 1230. It’s our 7v7 league. Warm up 20 min before game time. It would be free.Approximately 1 hour game with a ref. Message me if you can come in. First one to reply is in.

Youth baseball league starts this coming Sunday. This is a developmental league and is not geared towards travel baseball. We will be working on the bare fundamentals of playing the game and mix in some good competitive games each week. This is a great opportunity for all ages but Im mostly excited about our 6-7 year old group. Small team drills and lots of great coaching! Registration is open until Friday. UPDATE: we will run all ages from 830-1030 on Sundays.

Thanks to Mark at Johnson Controls for putting in a super long day yesterday in crummy weather, we now have heat back in the dome. Supplemental heating system gets hooked up today to help keep us warm in here on those super cold days as well. Thank you for all of your patience! All scheduled activities at the dome are a go for this weekend including high school soccer league, and our first youth baseball league session on Sunday at 830 am.

For people that don’t know, and there are lots! My name is Brendon Augustine and I started up Coastal Maine Storm a few years back. We started renting in the dome 3 years ago and our first year we were the largest renters of field space at the time. I knew Seacoast United was looking to move south and sell the dome and they approached me about purchasing it. I was definitely interested but wanted to lease it for a year and see what it would be like and what kind of money could be generated.
I took on this endeavor knowing it would be break even at best. The utilities alone for January and February come close to $40k. There is zero revenue from may until the end of October yet there is still the large expense of keeping it filled with air. As much as I have loved it, loved seeing the enjoyment that 4 year olds as well as 50 year olds alike have running around inside i just don’t see this as something worth putting 1.8 million into as a smart investment. This is the 23rd year for this 15 year old dome. It’s prime was 10 plus years ago. At this time I’m just trying to limp our way through one last winter here in Topsham. So far this winter and Fall has been extremely difficult in keeping all engines running. Between our main unit that keeps it full of air, heating system, lights, new leaks, and others it has become something extremely difficult to keep up with both financially and physically. I’m around $6k in trying to fix the heating system so far and we’re still trying to find out the problem. I will continue to work diligently as well as work with the right contractors to make this last year in here an enjoyable one for all groups coming in. I’m passionate about youth sports and our community and I’ll give it 100 percent!
I’d like to reach out to the community, the families that have loved and enjoyed this part of the Midcoast over the last 23 years and see if there are other opportunities or avenues to keep a dome in our area alive. Please reach out and send me a message if you have ideas on what can be done? The site will soon be up for sale and my lease runs out at the end of April. If I get enough help then i can schedule a meeting and really look at if this is something worth tackling. A lot of hearts will be saddened to see this thing go. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the start of our youth baseball league one week. The heating system is down in the dome and with the temps looking to be pretty frigid on Sunday morning I think it’s best to wait one week. For the inconvenience we will add an extra week to the schedule and play full games on the final week which we will live stream on this page. I sent an email out to all registrants. For any other groups in the dome this weekend we are getting more temporary heat tomorrow so those will continue. Thanks for understanding!
