Toppen*sh, you’re invited to Flip the Switch with us! ⚡️🔆

Join us on Thursday, September 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Valley View Elementary for a free night of family fun centered around renewable energy, conservation and the future of our community.

Come check out our new solar and battery energy technology, learn how our BESS+ project can save the district money, support cleaner energy and help provide power for essential community services during large-scale outages, and have a whole lot of fun while you’re here!

Families can look forward to:
☀Free dinner and treats
☀Free books
☀Lots of hands-on STEAM activities for kids
☀A chance to build a solar-powered robot
☀Games, prizes and more!

Our official Flip the Switch Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This is a chance for our students, families and neighbors to see firsthand how this exciting project will benefit Toppen*sh now and into the future.

Please note that this celebration is for our entire Toppen*sh community, not only Valley View families!

There will be no school on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Also, Wednesday, September 16, will be an Early Release Day. There will be no school for Toppen*sh Early Learning Center (ELC) students on September 16, 2026.

⌚️Early release times are:
Toppen*sh High School: 11:30 a.m.
CATS High School: 11:30 a.m.
Toppen*sh Middle School: 11:35 a.m.
Kirkwood Elementary: 11:50 a.m.
Garfield Elementary: 11:55 a.m.
Lincoln Elementary: 12:00 p.m.
Valley View Elementary: 12:10 p.m.

We’re looking for community members who want to help make our schools healthier places for students to learn and grow! 🍎🐾

This fall, our Wellness Committee will begin meeting to help review and update the Toppen*sh School District’s Wellness Policy, including topics like nutrition, physical activity and other wellness opportunities. No special training is needed, just an interest in supporting healthy schools.

What better way is there for our students to tell the story of their school and community than through a mural right here in the City of Murals?!

Earlier this summer, we shared a sneak peek as our Highly Capable and Leadership students began bringing their mural design to life. Now, the finished piece is complete and making the TMS campus feel just a little more like the home our Wildcats all share.

Each letter in TOPPENISH highlights something that makes our city unique, while each piece of the papel picado banner represents programs at TMS that help our middle school students feel more connected to their learning, their school and one another.

The mural was just one part of their summer! Students also worked on other campus beautification projects and took their exploration of art beyond Toppen*sh. They experienced art in many different forms, stopping in Issaquah to see one of artist Thomas Dambo’s larger-than-life troll sculptures, exploring the incredible glasswork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, and heading to the top of the Space Needle to take in the beauty of Seattle while seeing architecture as another form of art on full display!

We love seeing our Wildcats leave their mark on their school, our community, and beyond! 🐾

A big thank you to the staff who helped guide and support this project, including Ms. Baisinger, Mr. Pendlebury and Ms. Lemus, and to all of the students who put their creativity and hard work into making it happen.

🥕 Our Farm to Summer Coloring Contest is officially open! We will be accepting submissions beginning today through August 5. 🖍️

Coloring sheets were provided to families at yesterday’s drive-thru Mobile Market & Books for Kids event and will be sent home with Summer Learning Program students today.

📚 Help Us Stock the FREE Wildcat School Supply Store! ✏️

Toppen*sh School District is excited to participate in this year's CSN National Night Out event! In addition to hosting several booths, we're hoping to offer a FREE pop-up school supply store to help our Wildcat families prepare for the first day of school.

Instead of a traditional backpack giveaway, students will get to shop for their own school supplies, choosing the items they like best based on their school's supply list. Our goal is to create a fun, empowering experience while helping families get ready for a successful school year.

To make this possible, we're hosting a School Supply Drive, and we need your help!
You can support our students by:

We're happy to partner with Second Harvest to offer a Free Food Distribution at Toppen*sh High School for our Wildcat families and community!

Join Second Harvest for a free drive-thru food distribution on:
📅 Wednesday, July 15
🕒 3:00 - 5:00 PM
📍 Toppen*sh High School (141 Ward Rd., Toppen*sh)

No appointment, identification, or documentation is required. Food will be distributed while supplies last.

We're also excited to partner with ESD 105 to provide FREE books for children from babies through middle school age during the event! A book cart will travel through the drive-thru line, allowing children to choose a free book while supplies last. We have 300 books to give away, so be sure to arrive early!

Interested in volunteering? High school students who would like to help with the food distribution are encouraged to email bkaple@toppen*sh.wednet.edu to express their interest. Volunteer service hours will be provided.
