This is the first week of the first BPI Championship and it reminds me of why I began sharing BowlU knowledge and experience.
While winning is the target, the everyday goal and motivation is improving.
As a bowler, I tried anything and everything in my search, if it made sense I kept it, if it didn't make sense, I ditched it. There is so much “stuff” out there, it can be confusing and frustrating.
What never failed was competition, any and every competition is a valuable lesson. You can prefer any type of competition you choose, but if you want to get better... take the challenge, no matter what it is. Figure it out and find another challenge. If you truly want to improve, don't just keep looking and debating for a particular competition challenge.
As a bowler, every challenge is an opportunity to improve your knowledge, experience, and skills.
As a leader in the industry, I believe it is the competition pathway that drives everything. The extreme majority will always be those who bowl to have fun and enjoy a social environment. The vast majority do not want to overthink their equipment and strategy. Entertainment will always be the environment they choose, and they deserve it. It is the leaderships role to provide it.
From that huge majority, there will be a certain percentage that wants a greater challenge, it is the leaderships role to provide it.
There isn't a specific number of steps between the “recreational pool” and the “best of the best”, it is the leaderships role to provide it.
I certainly have my ideas and welcome the challenge of working with other industry leaders to take a leadership role and provide it.
Consider this an invitation to all industry leaders to use our experience and knowledge to build the pathway from the “recreational pool” to the “best of the best”
I am ready for the discussions, the different thoughts and ideas while working together to grow the sport and industry.
What I can not do is wait any longer, I have waited and proposed long enough. It is time for me to act like a leader and share my knowledge and experience to “however large” of an audience I have, knowing good thoughts and ideas will grow.
I look forward to a time when we all work together. There are so many opportunities and possibilities, my focus is to act by introducing some of those opportunities and possibilities. I have faith that the other leaders within the industry will see the benefits and join forces. My faith is based on knowing, that every industry leader I have ever met wants what is best for the growth of the sport and the development of its athletes.
