After 25 years of coaching with Topeka Select and Topeka Soccer Club, Brian Cole is retiring from the sidelines.
It’s hard to put into words what 25 years truly means.
It means thousands of practices, hundreds of games, countless car rides, tournament weekends, team talks, celebrations, lessons learned, and lives impacted.
For a generation of players in Topeka, Coach Brian was more than a coach. He was a mentor, a teacher, a role model, and someone who genuinely cared about every player. He challenged players to be better, supported them through adversity, celebrated their successes, and helped shape not only better soccer players, but better people.
The trophies and championships are part of the story, but they are not his legacy.
His legacy is found in the players who fell in love with the game because of him. The confidence he helped build. The friendships he helped create. The values he taught. And the countless young athletes who are better people today because they had the opportunity to be coached by Brian Cole.
Few people give so much of themselves to a community for so long. For 25 years, Brian has been a constant presence in Topeka soccer, helping build programs, develop players, and leave the game better than he found it.
On behalf of the thousands of players, families, coaches, and teammates whose lives you’ve touched along the way, thank you.
Thank you for the time.
Thank you for the passion.
Thank you for the sacrifice.
Thank you for the memories.
Your impact will be felt on these fields for generations to come.
Congratulations on an incredible coaching career and a well-earned retirement, Coach Brian.
Once a coach, always a coach. ⚽
