Spirit Valley Camp

Spirit Valley Camp Spirit Valley Camp is a place born of hoary nights, when lonely men struggled to keep their fires lit and cabins warm. They decided to buy 80 acres.

This is the Stebnitz Deer Hunting Camp created when Stanley and his father Curtis bought some land from the Rib Lake Lumber Co. for $60/40 acres or $100/80 acres in about 1948. A lot of money for the time. I am sure glad they did. In the early 60's a groups of guys started to go up to the land and hunt deer. That tradition has endured thru many changes and now we have at least the 5th generation o

f Stebnitz children attending the annual deer hunt. I hope that the camp will endure another 5 generations.

Chris' 7-pointer as the last driver on the Island Dr circa 1991. We drove it from the Hogback in heavy snow. The buck came out from between Ryan and Chris. After his close-quarter first shot put the buck down, Chris' gun jammed and before Ryan could trudge through the snow to coup the buck, Chris finished the buck off by slitting it's neck. Great memories.

Despite hunting close to 40 hours and not seeing a single deer, it was another fun deer season filled with as many stories as there were memories. Great to share those at with family and friends at Spirit Valley Camp.
