Meg's Riding Academy

Meg's Riding Academy Meg's Riding Academy is a lesson program based out of Page Run Farm in Tolono, IL. We specialize in English and Western riding lessons.

At Meg's Riding Academy we offer group lessons that typically contain three students. The students are paired based on riding experience. All lessons are an hour in length. During this hour the student receives instruction in proper grooming, tacking, and riding. This allows the student to gain horsemanship skills in addition to learning to ride. The cost is $40 per lesson. If you pay for lessons

via the month, the cost would be $35 per lesson (ie 4 lessons in April...$140). Lessons are taught Monday through Saturday, they are typically held in the afternoon and evenings. However, there are a few days where morning lessons are available. The majority of our students have permanent slots where they ride on a weekly basis. If it works better for your schedule there is also the option to be on the "Will-Call" list where you can fill in to my different openings each week. I'm also available to come to your barn to work with you and your horse. These lessons are typically 45 minutes long, and the cost varies depending on the distance.

College Freshman Appreciation Post (because they are definitely not Seniors anymore!): wishing these three ladies the most amazing next four years as they continue (or prepare) to settle in to their new Universities. It’s been a pleasure to work with all of you over the last 10 years (at least) and I am so excited to see what all you will achieve!!

All three are planning to join their University’s collegiate riding teams (University of Findlay, University of Wisconsin, and University of Illinois) - ranch, hunt seat, and western!!

The weekend shows just keep rolling along. Yesterday we were back at Sunrise Farms Hunter-Jumper Show with new and returning faces. It was a beautiful day to horse show. We have certainly been blessed with good weather this year! This weekend I balanced riders in both the hunter and jumper rings - often going at the exact time. Thank goodness the rings are close so I could hustle back and forth or simply turn around to make sure my hunters were doing ok while I focused on my jumper. The girls willingness to go with the flow and help out was absolutely essential.

*Madison and Leo competed in Starter Walk/Trot and Ground poles. For her first show and first time riding away from our barn EVER Madison stayed focused, calm, and determined (even with a last minute horse switch!). This girl is definitely going to be fun to watch as she develops.

*Cadence and Legend were back at it in Starter Walk/Trot and Ground Poles. The arena had standing water (not Legend’s favorite) but she persevered to keep steering and boy did she have a blast with a smile on her face the ENTIRE time she was in the arena competing.

*Sophia and Arwen competed in Cross poles and were Grand Champions in their move up division of Short Stirrup/Long Stirrup. Even our wonderful Gate Lady said, “I can’t believe this is the same horse that was here in May”. Sophia has taken Arwen from her very first show where she didn’t want to leave the in gate to the mare confidently jumping gates, flowers, planks, and anything you put in front of her. They were simply amazing.

*Johanna and Leo had their first show together showing in short stirrup/long stirrup and took home the Reserve Grand Champion in the Novice division. They had wonderful consistent rounds and were such a joy to watch.

*Ellie and Legend competed together in the short stirrup/long stirrup and novice divisions. They had lovely jump rounds and even better flat classes, bringing home blues in both.

*Emma and Maverick were a very last minute addition to the weekend due to another rider unfortunately being sick. They knocked it out of the park with a Grand Champion in the novice division and great rides in the Limit division.

*Maddie and Bugatti competed for the first time in the jumper ring. We made this move since it has more similarities to eventing. Lots of growth and learning for this weekend, and I am beyond proud of hard they are working.

Another big thank you to the parents and families who made it out to support us. A huge thank you to Sam for hauling the second trailer so we could bring as many horses as possible!

Final Call for all current students to let me know of any Fall schedule changes that might be needed. I’m starting to rework the schedule now and with multiple people messaging daily to get on the Will Call list, options will go quickly. Thank you!!
