As we wish Dr. Barnett all the best at Navarre, we are excited to announce our new principal will be Mr. Steven Thomas.
Mr. Thomas grew up on the north side of Toledo and attended Chase Elementary, Leverette Junior High, and graduated from Macomber-Whitney Vocational Technical High School, where his vocational concentration was in Business. A first generation college graduate, Mr. Thomas received his undergraduate degree from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business (BBA) at the University of Cincinnati in Marketing with a minor in Accounting. Furthering his education, Mr. Thomas received two Masters degrees from the University of Toledo one from the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation (MBA) and one from the Judith Herb College of Education (M.Ed). Additionally, he received an Education Specialist degree (Ed.S) from Bowling Green State University’s College of Education and Human Development.
Mr. Thomas has worked in various managerial capacities at Stellantis (formerly Chrysler) in Toledo, Ohio and the Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay, Ohio. Mr. Thomas has also functioned as a Department Chair (Business/Technology) at Brown Mackie College in Findlay, Ohio and as a Business Adjunct Professor at Owens Community College and the University of Toledo teaching Accounting and Marketing.
Mr. Thomas has spent the past six years at Toledo Early College. He was a CTE Business teacher for four years, teaching Introduction to Financial Management and Introduction to Business/Marketing (Entrepreneurship) before being named the Assistant Principal and working in that capacity for the past two years.
Mr. Thomas would like to thank Dr. Barnett and the Jones Leadership Academy for Business staff for their warm welcomes and their outpouring of support during this transitional period. Go Mustangs!!!
