Breaking Currahee News from Sean Maher, Director of Golf Course Operations

I just wanted to reach out to give you a quick update on what we have accomplished so far this week on the golf course.

For starters, we have finished up our pre-emergent spraying app on the golf course and roadsides, we have treated the Sports Campus, Sales center, and Clubhouse with pre-emergent also.

We have also been able to top dress all tee boxes and fill all the previous divots start the growing season with a good base for the Bermuda to fill in. We will be continuing the top-dressing efforts on the fairways the remainder of the week.

Least but not last a very important step in golf course maintenance is top dressing the putting greens! We went with a slightly higher rate than usual to help firm them up and will follow up by rolling the greens in the morning. I also plan on doing another top-dressing next week on the greens.

Please let the members know the grounds crews are continuing to do much needed maintenance on the course and are working every day to assure the course is ready for Spring play.

Having moved to Currahee from Arizona, I had to do a lot of research from afar and found it hard to find everything in one location. Once you decide on Currahee, getting info on the builders was a project of its own and took more time that it should of. I just updated the Curraheeclub.com website listing all 4 current builders with links to their websites.

One of the best things about living full time in Currahee is you get to explore all the great restaurants in the area. There are some great “hole in the wall” places all over Stephens county. A staple lunch stop for many folks at Currahee is the 211 Main Street Cafe in downtown Lavonia. If you love home cooking, this is THE PLACE. Come hungry!
