On July 14, 2026, the LBNRD Board of Directors voted to enact changes to the Recreation Area Rules and Regulations. The updated rules and definitions will provide more clarity and improve existing rules and regulations. These changes will take effect on August 14, 2026. A Summary of the rule changes is as follows:
• Adding “at your own risk.”
• Adding hunting “two hundred 200 yards” from public use areas.
• Adding “the use of rifles in this area is prohibited.”
• Adding furbearer trapping is only allowed by special permit.
• Adding “waterfowl hunting is prohibited” at Liberty Cove.
• Adding “all hunting is prohibited” at Prairie Lake.
• Adding no hunting within 200 yards of the public use area and prohibiting rifles.
• Adding horseback riding is allowed, but riders should be aware of hunting seasons.
• Updated Recreation Area Maps
