And now for the 2025 Varsity Offensive Stats!

This unit is easily one of the toughest I've seen us field on that side of the ball. They had to endure so much to reach the heights they did. Ended up in 3 different offenses during the season, besides 1981 I've never seen us do that. We started off in the Wing vs Alleghany and West Wilkes, then we went back to what we ran in 2024 with less pass routes, and against East Surry and Central we were an option team. But we did it with style and did it epically.

Atkins had a growing pains year, he hadn't played at QB since JV in 2022. He took his lumps but once we switched to the spread and started pacing it out, he got comfy. He played great vs MA when the heat was on him he threw for almost 200. Threw it well in the last month of the season as well and played it well in the later parts of non conference. The fact he finished well over in TD's instead of interceptions is a big thing for him. Glad he got to finish.

Sweatman came in wanting revenge after the knee injury at the end of 2024 but it started slow, but against Patrick County things clicked, and it was much fun after. Some weeks were harder than others (MA/Maiden/Alleghany,) but he delivered big when we needed him too this year, and the Salisbury game was his finest moment imo. His first TD right before Halftime was what we needed that night, the momentum shifted and we started fighting. If not for him being able to run it so well it woulda been a lot harder.

Leftwich had a wild year, started the first half, on the road to a POTY season, then he got hurt. But he came back for the last 2 and what an outing he had vs Salisbury, he forever wrote his legacy in stone that night with all he did. 3 different offensive TD's, 9 tackles, and two blocked XP's.. BIG. Maiden was honestly just as big 3 TD's on their fast secondary? BIG. What a boss. Too bad Max Preps doesn't do total yardage.

Carson was our solid surprise WR. He had some bad weeks but he played on a mission in the big games. I think he'll be a solid hand for us next year as well.

O Line wise they grew a ton through the year. Changed starters and spots a lot but they finally figured it out and got going before Conference, then came injuries. But they never quit. One scrappy group.

Gonna miss all these fellas, it's been a pleasure watching them grow for 4 years 😎

Here are the 2025 Varsity Defensive stats!

For about the 2nd time i've seen in the modern NS Football era (2000 onwards,) we finished with 2 players with over 100 tackles! Previous time was ironically 2004, last time we won a playoff game.

Cabrera ends his 3 year run on Varsity with a bang. Lead team in tackles in 24 and 25, also tied or lead in several other big categories across the board, a dominant defensive season if I've seen one. But, he's not that kind of fellow, a huge team player and he boosted everyone else up.

Combs is one of my favorite stories, he had to wait a year after the 2024 seniors and he got spot duty last year, but he made it count then (saved us vs West Wilkes in that OT game multiple times.) This year he stepped it up 3 notches and became dominant. Very rarely did he not contribute, and if he did have an off week he came back with a vengeance the next. Makes me so happy to see him break on through. That being said.. he finished with over 100 tackles and got Honorable Mention at Linebacker? Give me a break!

Ravitt on the D line stepped into nose guard having to follow Big Kearse but he did it as well as he could and then some, he passed him in tackles and had some great outings along the way. He dominated Patrick County all night and ate up West Stokes and Salisbury plus Central too. Three killer years in row for nose guards.

Cain was honestly the quiet story of the season. He got hurt his sophomore and junior year with his knee and there were people doubting he'd make it through but besides one game where he got a concussion, he dominated in the secondary for us. He had 2 picks against West Stokes and played very consistent in the 2nd half of the year. If he didn't miss the Central game he coulda gotten to maybe 100 too. He's a motor and was all over the place.

The crazy part? This was such a great team defense that we have several other guys who played greatly this year. Jenkins had a suprise year in the secondary and will be our Junior with the most tackles. Mosley was great for us on the D line, so was Dunbar. He had a quietly productive year and finished near the top in sacks. Turney came out of nowhere to be one of the hidden aces of this unit, he played great almost every week in conference.Hodges and Ho**er grew a lot and become solid in conference play, we get both of them back on the DL next year. Chamberlain started for the first time vs East Surry and while experienced he held his own. So many gamers on this side of the ball. I wish we had them one more year.

I called it 2 years ago "this team's gonna be fun in 2 years," take MA and Maiden's scores off the #'s and this team only gave up 14 points, very solid! Still solid despite that, just 2 games giving up over 28 points.

I'll miss these fellas next year, but they leave the defense in good hands with the juniors coming up and JV fellas, they are gonna have high expectations!

And here are the JV defensive totals for 2025.

Defense had the rare luck in not having to be on the field for long periods, that is not the norm. In the non conference games our O line proved strong enough to keep the defense in check and we ran a lot of clock out. Patrick County and Forbush we did this a lot. W Wilkes and Northwood we had running clock. After Alleghany until East Surry/Central we didn't stay on the field much. We played solid consistent defense all year long. Very focused and opportunistic. Started early when we beat a 1 loss Alleghany team and it kept up.

Cornett had a very dominant year, won tackles by a good margin and had the most TFL's out of anyone on either team, a good amount of yards lost too. In terms of picks Hull lead the team, and we had 2 defensive TD's as well as a tie at 2 in terms of sacks, that was a bit of a weak point but the TFL's make up for it. I'll be adding some more defensive totals over the offseason so stay tuned.

But very excited to see these boys get up to the big time. I think if they hit the weight room and stay focused, the sky is the limit.

Here are the JV Offensive stats at the end of the 2025 Season.

We started off in a run heavy offense and it evolved to a pass focused one midway but we stayed solid on both ends. We ran it well when we needed to do so but we also passed it when we had too. Running it helped us finish off MA and hold on to the lead vs Central. Passing it helped us early run over the Wilkes teams, it evened out. Stanly ran for his life vs Forbush to get to 1,000 yards and he got it. Lyons passed for 1,000 throwing it vs Central.

I decided to give every player an average here so it can look all nerdy like lol. But it was fun watching these guys play together and I'm excited to see how they do the next few years.

And here are the defensive stats from the Maiden game.

Maiden's run game was for real, RB's one of the better ones I've seen. QB wasn't bad either, they were good, but we fought hard too. We coulda bowed and let them score 42 in the first quarter but we made it a fight and we stayed in it for 4 quarters while not many other teams would have from around here. Def a good way to end the year in the 2nd round when teams get better and better.

This defense was very fun, they played hard and like a team. Minus this team and MA we kept teams from scoring more than 4 TD's on us, that's not a common thing and it's a big win. Woulda loved to seen them get a shutout but I'll take that playoff win helped in part a lot due to them anyday.

Here are the offensive stats from the Maiden game.

Not the best night rushing it, Maiden's defense was prepped on it, but we came out passing and gave them fits all night. It ended up being the best offensive showing we've had in a 2nd round game since 1967, so all in all not a bad night at all!

Great farewell bow for a offense that fought hard all year and got better despite some hard games.

Mr Leftwich in particular had a great farewell and so did Mr Atkins. Mr Sweatman's time was against Salisbury but even against Maiden he had a good breakaway run that got us in scoring range in the 2nd half.

I'll really miss these guys.

Here the Forbush varsity defensive stats.

We came out focused and shut down their offense from the start running the ball so they had to switch to the pass. Besides 1 drive and one missed tackle they couldn't really get going consistently especially in the 2nd half.

Good consistent night for everyone that night. Really fun to watch too. Happy for Lakey to get that TD after the injury which derailed things for him this year, but he went out on top. Not many players get to do that, but it defines the soul of this defense this year.

Here are the defensive stats from the Forbush JV game.

The Falcons came in very more 1 dimensional than we expected and flag prone, we had an easier time than expected. They woke up in the 2nd half to give us a fit but offense stepped up and instantly countered their drives. We shut their run game which is what they used all year to end the season a good note.

Here are the Forbush JV offensive stats.

The youngin's put up a clinic that night to clinch the JV title. It proved to be a true rushing fest as we ran for over 300 that night and passed when we needed to paydirt. Stanly was extra motivated as he was trying to get to 1,000 yards.

Did he get it? You'll see soon.

I'm getting ready to do a mass game stats dump :) Got Forbush stats on both levels and the Maiden game to go.

I got final stats ready to go too, they will be up either tomorrow night or tomorrow.

And here are the Varsity's offensive stats from the Salisbury game. I've never seen a game where just three guys had a chance with the ball and we won but here's one. Salisbury's D was stubborn, we had to run it a lot and getting Leftwich back proved to be a big help, it helped us open up the pass game more fully.

I'll have current totals for both sides by Friday.

Here are the varsity defensive stats from the BIG win over Salisbury in round 1. The Hornets were as expected very athletic and their QB is a heck of an athlete but when push came to shove they just weren't ready for our defense. The more the game went along the more they gave up a big hit or a TFL. The two goal line stands we had at the start and the end were beautiful. These fellas are good for that. Very good night for all our seniors.

Up next is round 2 down at Maiden, gonna be a war there.

The Forbush stats I'm working on, I just got acess to another camera angle and I'm hoping it's helpful. I'll have them up soon. JV final stats will be up by Sunday.
