I haven’t really shared my jiujitsu journey here, but would like to start, as this has become a huge aspect of my pursuit of health, and has a huge impact on my life in general. I also know a lot of women follow this page for health and fitness inspiration and I’d love to share this aspect that is so empowering and that I just love so much.
At the beginning of September I received my fourth and final stripe on my white belt… next will be a new belt and I still can’t comprehend how this mama has made it this far and learned so much. It’s been almost a year and a half since I started, and on one hand it all still feels so new, while on the other I see so much has changed. I look forward to this continued growth and opportunity to learn and do something that I was once fearful of.
Jiujitsu has influenced a lot in how I train my body, and I see it is so much for the better. I’ve had a holistic approach for years but what used to be a focus on strength has adapted to so much more depth in injury prevention and both longevity of strength as well as strength in far more ranges of motion; true mobility and wellness. Things that will not only keep me strong but will keep me safe and give me a good future even as I age.
Jiujitsu has also given me a mental strength that is so interesting to me. So much of what I thought was strength was just stubbornness or pushing myself in a way that was not beneficial. Women are different than men for a reason and jiujitsu highlights the fact that we can, and need to be, both gentle and strong, both free flowing and technically controlled, confident yet humble.
I love jiujitsu so much, if you know me, I hardly shut up about it… but truly I think everyone should give it a try. Especially you ladies, if you are at all interested in this, push past the fear and go for it!! You won’t regret it. has the best coach and jj community to build you up and keep you going in all aspects 🤍
Do things that are difficult for you, do things that make you fearful; both physically and mentally! I’m still just starting this journey, but I’m so glad I have. I’m so imperfect and fail often, but I won’t give up.
