What a CRAZY couple of days in Ohio! 🐺

I came to Ohio for work and decided to chase another goal of mine; harvesting coyotes in as many states as possible.

Night 1, I met some great guys who let me tag along. After a few silent stands, we connected on stand #3 with a double! TheAfter Hourz, I appreciate the invite!

Night 2, I was on my own without an electronic call. I decided to door knock and try to learn how to use HHS Boys diaphragm calls I happen to have in my chest pack. Never used mouth calls before so I had to learn quick. I landed 3 properties while practicing and door knocking.

After about two hours of practicing howls and distress sounds, I hit my first stand.

About 7 minutes in, a coyote stepped out at 150 yards.

I made the shot and was already fired up about calling my first Ohio coyote solo with a mouth call.

Then I walked up to him…

BLACK COYOTE.

I was shaking.

First Ohio coyote.
First solo with only Mouth calls
And somehow… a melanistic coyote.

One more state checked off the list! 🇺🇸

Oh, and the rental car made it back without Too Much blood in it 😂

Had me so confused. Take one and like a magician another comes running out.

If we miss the first time, don’t give me a second try. Didn’t go 20.

Sometimes you just mess it up. A bad count caused my hunting partner to shoot at a bad time. Right when I counted down to 2 (we shoot right after) the coyote moved and I paused to reset but he didn’t know that’s what I was doing. Luckily we were able to stop him again and get a clean shot. Mistakes happen, but always take responsibility.
