AKRA ready to kick off 2026 National Road Racing Series at NCCAR
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — The American Kart Road-Racing Alliance (AKRA) is set to open a new season of road racing this May 15-17 with the fourth annual NCCAR Nationals at the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research, better known as “NCCAR.”
Woodbridge Kart Club will once again host the AKRA National Road Racing Series opener. This is the fourth consecutive year this event has counted for both WKC and AKRA points after the groups joined forces to return karting to fast 2-mile NCCAR course after a 10-year hiatus. Event registration is at WKC’s new Alpha Timing at woodbridgekartclub.alphatiming.co.uk/.
NCCAR is located right off Interstate 95 in Garysburg, less than 10 miles south of the Virginia-North Carolina state line. Located in the northeast corridor of the state, the nearest city is Roanoke Rapids, where one exit south of the track plenty of lodging and dining options are offered.
Promoters have made adjustments to this year’s three-day event with a travel-friendly schedule in an effort to cut some costs for competitors. Friday’s practice day will feature a later start time with the Drivers Meeting at Noon and group practice running from 12:30 to 5:30pm.
Saturday’s schedule is a standard road racing format with morning practice rounds and a full day of racing. At the end of the day, WKC is hosting a Carolina 206 Cash Dash for LO206 racers, which boasts $1,000+ purse plus contingency cash and tire awards.
Sunday’s schedule is also slightly condensed with the final race slated to end around 3:30pm.

Schedule changes were made to shorten travel days and reduce expenses for teams and families.
Camping with hookups is available at NCCAR and Thursday night parking and camping is available. Anyone arriving Thursday night needs to pre-purchase their pit passes when registering at WKC Alpha Timing. NCCAR kicks off another five-race AKRA National tour with stops at Mid-Ohio in June, Nelson Ledges in July, Summit Point in August and Gingerman, Michigan, closing out the year in September.
