Malachi Adams - Men’s 60m National Runner-Up:

Malachi added on to the dominant short sprints tradition we have here at Tiffin University. In his first season as a dragon, he was able to join elite company. He became the 3rd Tiffin track and field sprinter to win the GMAC conference championship in the 60m dash, ran the 5th fastest time in GMAC history (6.70), and was the National Runner-Up in the 60m Dash (6.71). He battled through some injuries throughout the season but stayed true to the process and qualified for the national meet with the 9th best time. He has been a phenomenal sprinter to coach and I am excited to see him build upon his momentum from the indoor season. -Coach Lane

Mercedeez Francis - Women’s High Jump All-American:

Mercedeez did not have an ordinary or expected indoor season to say the least. What she accomplished though was extraordinary. This was Mercedeez's last indoor season of eligibility and she came into the year with high expectations and goals in high jump after coming off an amazing senior season last year of PR's and a National Runner-Up finish at the NCAA Championships. She grew a lot from her freshman year, on and off the track. This year she came into the season with a very good summer training grind under her belt and was ready to do big things. Unfortunately she had a big set-back after the first meet of the season with a stress fracture diagnosis and was told she would not be able to compete in her last indoor season. This hit her hard but she got through it mentally and was going to just start preparing for the outdoor season the best she could. She took a month off then started into some upper body training for a month. Eventually the doctors said it was healed up enough that she could try to high jump again if she would like. So with about three weeks left in the season and 3 meets to get qualified for Nationals we got back to it with some adjusted training. In her second meet back she jumped a PR height of 1.74m which was enough to get her qualified for the NCAA Championships. Then taking advantage of the opportunity at Nationals she jumped another PR of 1.76m and placed 4th!!! This brings Mercedeez's 1st Team All-American finishes to a total of 4. A great story, indoor career, and person. I am looking forward to getting back on track for the outdoor season and seeing Mercedeez reach those goals she has set for herself! - Coach Keith Reiter

Jake McPherson - Men’s Weight Throw National Qualifier:

Jake is going to be the thrower to watch in our heavy hitting conference and on the national stage. Even as a sophomore he has proven that he can emerge as a top thrower on one of the best weight throw squads in the country. Even though people may see him as a weight/hammer thrower, he will also find success in shot put and discus. The thing about Jake is that he really never had a great opportunity for a full season for a variety of reasons. Even this season started late for him because of Covid-19 protocol. Jake was able to adapt firmly and started to put together scary good practices and there seems to be no end in sight for his technical and strength gains in the weight room. Even his second place finish in the deepest conference in the country doesn’t paint a good picture of what he is capable of. We will remember this season with him improving by over 6’ as one for the books. With him now having some experience getting bigger throws in indoor competition, we will roll into outdoors at full steam with only having less than a week to truly prep for outdoors. Jake has proven himself to be a rightful leader in the throws squad, even being a sophomore, and has a lot of untapped potential he chases. -Coach Yohman

Ines Macadam - Women’s 800m National Qualifier:

Ines had a historic season for Tiffin University women's distance running. There were only 2 races this season where she didn't win or set a new PR. She broke the indoor 800m school record in 2:10.66, indoor Mile school record in 4:54,77, and was the 1600m leg of the women's Distance Medley Relay school record - all of which are NCAA provisional marks. She won her first conference title of her career in the women's 800m. She worked hard through the stress of being in the cutoff spots for nationals being 17th going into the selection period. Ines became the first women's distance runner to qualify to nationals since Tiffin University has been in the NCAA - paving the way for runners to follow as well as her career as she's only a sophomore on the track! At nationals, Ines ran her 3rd 2:10 of the season placing 13th in a field of 20 of the best mid-distance women in the country. She has been a pleasure to coach as she is constantly trying to improve on the little things day to day. I am excited to keep improving on our performances at nationals as we chase an All-American spot and more! -Coach Graham

Marisa Gwinner - Women’s High Jump All-American:

Marisa had a very solid and consistent indoor season this year in high jump, clearing an NCAA Championships qualifying mark at every meet she competed in as well as finishing in first place in each. She seemed to be right on the verge of clearing a big PR but it just never came together at the right time. Although it may not have happened in her main event she stood out this year in the long jump and made some huge improvements eventually hitting an NCAA Championships qualifying mark at the Conference championship meet with her PR jump of 5.70m. She increased her LJ mark by almost 2ft. from the 1st meet of the season to conference. Marisa still qualified herself for the NCAA Championships in the high jump with a season best clearance of 1.77m and competed well in a very strong women's high jump field. She finished in 7th place with a 1.74m clearance and garnered her 6th 1st Team All-American finish of her career! Marisa brings a great supportive fun attitude to both practices and meets and it has been very enjoyable to see her grow and learn to love track again. I am excited to see what she does this outdoor season in her senior year of track! -Coach Keith Reiter

Rajiah Andrews - Women’s 60m Dash National Qualifier:

Rajiah has solidified herself as one of the top short sprinters in Tiffin University track and field history. When it comes to the Tiffin top 10 all-time list, she has solidified her name in many different events: 60m Dash ( #2), 60m Hurdles ( #1), indoor 200m Dash ( #10), 100m Dash ( #1), 110m Hurdles ( #2), outdoor 200m Dash ( #9). She was able to walk away from the 2022 GMAC conference championship with an individual title in the women’s 60m Dash, was the co-highest total point scorer of the meet. We both worked through the stress of getting into the cutoff spots for qualifying for the Division 2 National Championship meet. She ended up getting into the meet tied for 20th in the 60m dash and she ran her fastest time of the season (7.55) to end up placing 13th overall with the fastest girls in the country. She is ready for outdoors and to finish out her career as a Tiffin Dragon. I am excited to see all the accomplishments she will gain during the outdoor season. -Coach Lane
