64 bowlers. Six hours. One perfect game.
First ball crashed into the pins shortly after 6 PM. Last ball thrown at 12:15 AM.
Of the 64 who started, 22 were still alive heading into game 9. Nine made it to game 10.
The room thinned out. The energy did not. One bowler walking off after game 9 yelled "Thank God I'm FREE." Another one shrugged and said "I'm tired, but I have another game or two in me."
Five bowlers put up 10 or more strikes in the final game. Then Dylan Sayles threw 12 in a row, all natural, for a 300 to close out the night and take it.
Final Standings
1. Dylan Sayles, 12 strikes (12 natural), 300 game
2. Mackenzie Boat, 12 strikes (10 natural)
3. Matt Roberts, 11 strikes (8 natural)
4. Ethan Lindsey, 10 strikes (9 natural)
5. Andy Wilkerson, 10 strikes (6 natural)
6. David Andersen, 9 strikes (9 natural)
7. Ryan Whitmyer, 9 strikes (6 natural)
8. Xavier Elkins, 9 strikes (5 natural)
9. Joe Kindig, 8 strikes (7 natural)
Thank you to George Phillips Pro Shop for donating the raffle ball that let us add to the prize fund. Thank you to N.E Indiana Tournament Bowling series for the back office support. Thank you to South Lanes for giving up six hours of house time.
Special thanks to Ken, the mechanic at South Lanes, whose maintenance work had the machines in tip top shape going into the night. Six hours of nonstop bowling is hard on equipment, and it showed up ready.
We're back on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, for the next edition of Strike. Survive. Repeat.
See you then.
