Meet D1 K-3 Coaches
Team - Aggies
Head Coach Brian Blyly is married and the proud dad of three children. He currently calls Schoolcraft home and brings a lifetime of sports experience to everything he does.
Coach Brian has coached football, baseball, softball, and wrestling, but his favorite all-around sport to both coach and play is softball. That said, basketball has always held a special place for him—he played from elementary school through high school and has spent 15 years coaching basketball at the elementary level.
For the past three years, Coach Brian coached in the D2 (4th/5th grade) Upward Basketball division alongside his son, Trevor. This season, they split up, and Coach Brian took on a D1 younger division team, helping develop some of the newest players in the league. From teaching fundamentals to watching skills begin to click and seeing a team come together, he embraces every step of the journey.
When asked what he enjoys most about the Upward Basketball program, Coach Brian shared:
“I really enjoy the fact that Upward gives me a chance to coach the game and also share the gospel.”
Assistant Coach Debbie Buck
Coach Debbie is serving as the assistant coach this year for Team Aggies, and this marks her second season with Upward Basketball. After her first year as a volunteer, she knew she wanted to come back.
“Being a volunteer brought me so much joy in my first year that I decided to keep volunteering,” Coach Debbie shared.
“The kids were so eager to learn the sport and enjoy the life lessons given at practice and at games.”
Her own high school basketball memories still bring a smile to her face, and she loves passing that same experience on to today’s athletes. From building skills and running drills to creating meaningful core memories, Coach Debbie finds joy in helping young players grow.
Supporting the head coach with team strategy—while encouraging and teaching players—is the perfect fit for her coaching heart.
We’re so thankful for Coach Brian and Coach Debbie’s heart for kids, passion for sports, and commitment to their faith and development—on and off the court.
