⚠️🐍RATTLESNAKES🐍⚠️
Three Forks has rattlesnakes which are very venomous. We have never had one at our riding facility, but they are here on our trails and in tall grass. To ensure you and your child’s safety please read the following guide.
🐍Rattlesnake Safety Guide🐍
• How to Avoid Rattlesnakes
- Stay on established areas and out of tall grass.
- Watch where you place your hands and feet,
especially around rocks, logs, and tall grass.
- Wear boots and long pants when outdoors.
- Never step over logs or rocks without looking on
the other side first.
- Listen for the rattle and stop immediately if you
hear it.
- Give snakes plenty of space—at least 10 feet if
possible.
- Avoid hiking during the hottest parts of the day
when snakes are most active.
• If You Get BIT by a Rattlesnake
✅ Stay as calm as possible. Panic increases heart rate and can spread venom faster.
✅ Call 911 immediately or get to the nearest emergency room.
✅ Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing before swelling starts.
✅ Keep the bite area still and below heart level if possible.
✅ Walk only if necessary. Have someone drive or carry you if available.
❌ Do NOT cut the bite.
❌ Do NOT suck out the venom.
❌ Do NOT apply ice.
❌ Do NOT use a tourniquet.
❌ Do NOT drink alcohol or caffeine.
