Special thanks to Justin Beyor for this awesome footage from our favorite part of the Mt. Washington Auto Road. This is called 6 mile where “back in the day” it was all dirt except a paved ramp (or jump) where most of the cars racing up the mountain would get all four wheels off the ground! As kids in the 90’s we all would hike down from the cow pasture and watch Ray Blethen III from here on Climb to the Clouds race day.

Today the race cars still get light but it isn’t as much of a ramp as it once was. This is also one of if not the fastest stretches of the mountain - and with the massive cliffs you would think it would be scary but driving it at speed isn’t so bad as you can see around the turns fairly well. Coming down side by side around 50-60mph is another story :-)

Another awesome day of racing with New England Region SCCA at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park!!! It was great to have Zack join us in T4 with his new Precision Motorsports RX8 - Out of the box he was fast but had some braking issues after a couple laps that shortened his first session on track. The second race was only a couple laps due to an accident that required significant clean up so we didn’t get much of a race, although Stephen was In front and gets that win! Every session all three of the RX8’s were within a second of each other but Stephen Blethen was the fastest… despite that Raymond Blethen got out in-front on the start of the final race and was able to hold him off for the win.

All in all it was a long but fun day… Zack’s car is beautiful, we cannot wait to race against it again although we do know he will take a few wins away from us!!!

Now if you were at the event… we want to see some 🔥 pictures from the dark, share them if you got them!!!

Thank you to Randy and Jim for keeping us on track as well as our families and the kids that joined us this weekend!!!

We still have a bunch of stuff to post from the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb at the Mt. Washington Auto Road with Sports Car Club of New Hampshire….

But today we unloaded the cars from the trailer, added weight and changed the vinyl class designation on the side of the cars. We are back at the track with New England Region SCCA for the Midnight Madness sprint races in the dark at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park!!!

We are also here to welcome Zack Kelly officially to T4 in his brand new Precision Motorsports built Mazda RX8. Lots of parts from Newport (our yellow RX8) live on in this car…. We have a quick qualifying session coming up followed by a sunset sprint race and a final race somewhere between 10:00pm and 11:00pm. Follow along on race monitor and here for updates!

We are still enjoying the feeling of coming in 1st and 2nd out of the thirteen Prepared 3 cars at the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb on the Mt. Washington Auto Road with Sports Car Club of New Hampshire!!! We finished a shocking 20th and 26th overall out of the 84 cars that ended up racing this weekend… this is an amazing accomplishment when you see the list of amazing cars and talented competitors/teams that we were up against.

As a team we also broke into the 6 minute territory with Raymond’s time of 6:59.455!!! This was a huge accomplishment that we did not expect - not only did he win our Mountain Rotary Challenge and take the title of the fastest Rotary ever up the Mt Washington Auto Road but it is an astonishing time for this type of car considering these Mazda RX8’s are built for road racing…. NO Changes were made to the cars normal configuration that we run in New England Region SCCA wheel to wheel road racing other than pulling out the added weight.

- YES these are stock Mazda Renesis engines from Can-Saf Auto Repair with the T4 compliant 59mm restrictor plate from Mazda Motorsports.

- YES we ran on the same skinny 225/40-17 tires that we are restricted to in SCCA T4 competition. We specifically ran the same Hoosier Racing Tire A8’s from Hoosier Tire East that we will be running this coming weekend at Thompson!

- YES we ran with our non-adjustable STR.T KONI Shocks with no changes to ride height, cross weights, swaybars, spring rates, etc. the suspension that is still set up exactly how ExploringNH helped us develop/build it for road racing 2 years ago.

- Yes we are sorry to New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte for spraying her with Champaign - not sure she expected that!!!

This weekend was what true Motorsports should be like…. Family, friends and competitors all hanging out together. We had 40+ people with us through the weekend and saw 100’s of other folks we don’t get to see that often. Sure we (Raymond Blethen and Stephen Blethen) absolutely love the thrill of racing up this mountain exceeding speeds of 90mph but coming down side by side (at close to 70 in some spots) top to bottom, hearing the cheers, signing autographs, letting kids sit in the cars, seeing old friends and making new ones is our favorite part…. We absolutely love this event and are so thankful to all the volunteers, sponsors, and members of committee that put this together.

Huge thanks to our those that have and continue to support us going to this crazy event:

Let’s do this again next time!!!

🎥 MORE PICTURES AND VIDEOS TO COME!!! Please share your favorites with us! We want to make a video sharing in-car along with out of car videos showing what it is like going up the mountain with us! We need your videos to make it happen though!!!

The second run today in the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds at the Mt. Washington Auto Road with Sports Car Club of New Hampshire was in and out of clouds but it was to the top of the mountain… and the runs this afternoon did not disappoint. - Both Raymond Blethen & Stephen Blethen crushed the fastest rotary up the mountain record!!!

In the end though Raymond had a blistering fast run, breaking the 7min mark with a 6:59.455 to beat out Stephen who also crushed his record making it to the top in 7:07.838 seconds! This was fast enough for them to finish 1st & 2nd in P3 class - 20th & 26th overall out of 80+ contenders from all across North America!!!

Lots of posts, thank you’s, and shares will be incoming over the next couple days as pictures and video’s show up online…. Sooo many people helped but for now we want to give a special thanks to Randy, James, Tom, Zack, Dave, William, Tim and Trish for making this even remotely possible for all the help this year prepping and getting ready for this!

The first run of the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb at the Mt. Washington Auto Road with Sports Car Club of New Hampshire is in the books… the top is completely fogged in so we were only timed to half way (but did get to drive to the top).

The Mountain Rotary Challenge is on… Stephen Blethen with his 3:58.501 is sitting 0.465 ahead of Raymond Blethen with his 3:58.966!

New Hoosier Racing Tire “stickers” from Hoosier Tire East are on and we are ready for the 2026 Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb here at the Mt. Washington Auto Road with Sports Car Club of New Hampshire!!!

The cars are all tucked in and ready for tomorrow…. But we can see those new A8 Hoosier Racing Tires from Hoosier Tire East peaking out of those fenders!!!

Getting some rest before the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb on the Mt. Washington Auto Road tomorrow…. 😴

Second Day of practice was a success again here at the Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds!!! We ran the bottom half way up the Mt. Washington Auto Road today… Raymond & Stephen were split in today’s running order. The road was still damp for Raymond’s first run and a bit dryer for Stephens run… Stephen was quick in his first run, getting a 4:05.250 placing 16th overall and not to far off from some of the fastest cars here.

For the second run, Raymond had a dry run and brought the fight back nailing down a 4:00.322 however the sprinkles he saw quickly turned into rain shortly afterwards and by the time Stephen had his run 🏃 t was raining and very wet so he couldn’t fight back.

In the end with combined times from today’s runs Raymond is sitting 17th overall and 1st in class. Stephen is sitting 24th overall and 2nd in class out of 80 very cool cars!

Here is the POV from Raymond’s 4min run today!!!
