We are thankful our anglers had the opportunity to represent the Thomas County Central Bass Fishing Team at the South Georgia FCA event last night and hear from special guest speaker Hank Parker, one of the most respected and accomplished professional bass anglers in the sport.

Opportunities like this go far beyond fishing. They allow our team to learn from leaders who exemplify faith, integrity, perseverance, and a passion for the outdoors. We’re grateful to South Georgia FCA for investing in our youth and providing an evening that will leave a lasting impact on our anglers.

Congratulations Coach Rogers!

🏈💙💛 Congratulations to TCCHS Head Football Coach Justin Rogers on being named to the MaxPreps High School Coaching 100 list!

Coach Rogers is one of only two coaches from Georgia to earn this prestigious national recognition. The MaxPreps High School Coaching 100 honors coaches who have distinguished themselves through exceptional success, sustained excellence, and noteworthy achievements during the past school year—standing out among outstanding mentors and competitors from every state and across every high school sport.

Congratulations to Blake Rhodes and Jesse Mathis for their outstanding performance last week at the 17th Student Angler Federation (SAF) High School Fishing National Championship, held at the beautiful Lake Cumberland in Russell Springs, Kentucky. Although Blake and Jesse did not win the national title, we are incredibly proud of how they represented Thomas County Central by finishing 38th out of 237 qualified teams nationwide. They earned their place in this prestigious event by securing 7th place at the GHSA State Championship in May.

Lake Cumberland presented a challenging environment for our anglers, as it is a highland reservoir characterized by super-clear water and rugged shoreline cliffs. Just twenty feet from the bank, the water drops to a depth of 100 feet. The tournament had a minimum size limit of 15 inches for largemouth bass and 18 inches for smallmouth bass, making it even more difficult to catch regulation-sized fish. Despite these challenges, Blake and Jesse worked well together to figure out effective fishing strategies and made it to the scales to weigh in fish all three days. We are very proud of their accomplishment.

More than $4.1 million in scholarships and prizes were awarded to the top teams at the SAF High School World Finals and National Championship last week. Having one of our teams experience this opportunity will open everyone's eyes to the possibilities available at the national level and motivate our teams to work even harder to return to this event next year.

Blake and Jesse are members of our Yellow Jacket bass fishing team, which recently completed its best fishing season in the school's history. This season included two national qualifiers, 11 state qualifiers, one tournament championship, and eight top-10 tournament finishes. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our boat captains, parents, and sponsors for supporting our anglers this year. We look forward to another exciting season with our fishing Yellow Jackets in the coming school year!

By qualifying through the GHSA State Bass Fishing Championship, Blake Rhodes and Jesse Mathis earned a berth to the 2026 High School Fishing World Finals & National Championship at Lake Cumberland in Russell County, Kentucky, June 23–27, 2026. This achievement marks a historic milestone for the Thomas County Central Yellow Jacket Bass Fishing program, as they become the first team in program history to qualify for the National Championship event. 🎣🏆💙💛

We had five teams qualify for the Georgia BASS Nation High School and Junior High School State Championship on Lake Seminole last weekend.

🎣💙💛 Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Bass Fishing Update 💛💙🎣

We had FIVE teams from the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Bass Fishing Team qualify for the 2026 Georgia BASS Nation High School Fishing and Junior State Classic this past weekend on Lake Seminole! Stay tuned later this week for photos and tournament results.

We also had TWO teams qualify for the GHSA State Bass Fishing Tournament, with ONE team earning a spot at the 2026 GHSA National Championship Tournament in June in Kentucky!

Our season is a little different than most sports, running from August through July, and we recently celebrated another successful year by hosting our End-of-Year and Senior Banquet at Big Jim’s on Lake Seminole. It was a great evening spent with our anglers, boat captains, and families as we recognized the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of this year’s team.
