Today, I really want you to know what’s going on at Clocktower Yoga.
I love these little pockets of people getting to know each other within our four walls, with our tall ceilings and wood floors and giant windows. I love listening to the conversations happening before and after class, whether it’s people who came together as family and friends, or people making new connections.
I love the way older women talk to the young mom learning her way back into her body. I love the way everyone rallies around the person whose dog is sick. I love the husband and wife telling us all about their vacation abroad. I love the way strangers talk about the moon and the weather and how stressful work is. I love that people who met each other here go to the movies together and share hopes and dreams and fears.
And last Wednesday, we had a relatively small class for Restorative. Just six people. And everyone in the room had been practicing with me for over a year, some for much longer. I looked around the room and realized that between those six people, they had collectively taken my class over 300 times. Maybe more.
That was such a special feeling for me. There was real evidence in that number that just struck me. We like each other! We like doing this! We like our special weekly ritual in which I’m the instructor and you get to lay on my floor and breathe. It’s astonishing.
It was a full, wave-like moment that washed over me, reminding me what an absolute pleasure it is to be here. And I have a huge and overwhelming urge to tell you all about it because I want you to know, this is what’s going on at Clocktower Yoga! Something truly meaningful.
So whether you’ve taken one class, two classes, no classes, or seventy, I hope to see you at the Clocktower. I’m telling you all of this today because if you also want to feel the depth of this connection — between me and you but also between you and the other people in the room but also ALSO between you and yourself — I want you to have that. The door is open and there’s breath here.
