The first curling match in Minnesota occured during the 1850s when Scottish immigrants in Mapleton improvised a game with wooden blocks. In 1885, the first incarnation of the St. Paul Curling Club (SPCC) was founded. Despite changes due to ebbs and flows in the popularity of the sport, the club has long been a place to play and promote the sport of curling in the Twin Cities. Club members have also competed in national and international competitions, including the Olympics.
