Nicholls at Kansas State, 6pm ESPN+

The "K-S-U" chant: Before the Wildcats take the field, fans get involved in the famous K-S-U chant, led by Willie the Wildcat. It's one of the signature moments of a K-State gameday.

Arrive early! For those making the trip, Manhattan's gameday atmosphere starts well before kickoff. Parking lots typically open five hours before kickoff, while stadium gates open two hours before the game.

A unique college town: Manhattan, Kansas, known as "The Little Apple", is home to K-State and sits about 15 miles from Fort Riley. The entire community gets behind the Wildcats on gameday, making football feel like a town-wide event.

A little K-State history: The Wildcats have one of the more recognizable traditions in college football, including Willie the Wildcat, the "Powercat" logo and the famous Wabash Cannonball. The Powercat logo was introduced shortly after Bill Snyder arrived at K-State and became a defining symbol of the program.

Fun facts: Big-time opportunity: The Colonels will be playing inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium, named after legendary K-State coach Bill Snyder. The stadium is one of the iconic venues in the Big 12 and is known for its passionate fan base.

Purple everywhere: K-State's 2026 home opener against Nicholls is officially designated as a "Stripe Out", meaning fans will fill sections of the stadium in alternating colors to create a massive purple-and-white striped effect.

Don't miss the Wabash Cannonball: One of K-State's most famous traditions is the Wabash Cannonball, when the Marching Band plays the song and the entire crowd joins in with a synchronized bouncing/dancing motion. The tradition dates back to 1968.

Colonels (1-0) Head to Manhattan for Showdown with Kansas State, 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+

Following a dominant 44-10 season-opening win over Mississippi Valley State, the Nicholls Colonels hit the road for a major early-season challenge against Kansas State tonight.

The Colonels test themselves against a Big 12 opponent on a national stage. Kansas State leads the all-time series 1-0 after a victory over Nicholls in 2019, but the Colonels enter this matchup with plenty of momentum after forcing four turnovers and piling up 515 yards of offense in their opener.

Congrats to Greg Wood Jr., Alumni of the Game!

Last Thursday, during the Nicholls vs. Mississippi Valley State game, we were proud to recognize Gregory Wood, Jr. as our Alum of the Game! 🏈

Gregory Wood, Jr. is a 1999 graduate of the Nicholls College of Business Administration along with his wife of 27 years, Mindy Martin Wood. He recently completed five years of service on the Nicholls Alumni Federation Board, serving as President in 2024–2025. Greg's company, GAGE, is one of the nation’s leading Telecommunications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Services company based in Baton Rouge and a longtime supporter of Nicholls. He was named to the Baton Rouge Business Report’s 40 Under 40 in 2012. In addition to these accomplishments, Greg also serves as the immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, the 5th largest Rotary club in the world at nearly 500 members. Greg and Mindy have two children, Gracie, an LSU Architecture graduate, and Gannon, a recent Nicholls Accounting graduate pursuing an MBA.
