One of my scared dolphins graduated today with a show off day for his family. No more fears of water and swimming like a fish.

The second one is starting to move. He was clinging to me for life last week. Today his propellers are delayed but they starting to move.

This evening…..back to the babies…..

Abele (6) started lessons last week with no water experience. He was fearful of the water and even more scared of trying to be independent in the water. A splash of water in his face created severe anxiety. We worked at his pace with a little push and encouragement from me. I am so proud of his progress. Yesterday he wouldn’t leave the wall or steps without the noodle. Today he made it across the pool on his own. He has completed 5 sessions with 3 left. We will start working hard on his form tomorrow.

**** Donna's Dolphin Academy *****

I have been getting several text about price and availability. Lessons are $25 per 30 minute session. I do have availability but suspect we will be filling up based on the interest.

I start babies in the water at 6 months. At this age introduce water movement, water in face and just basically getting them comfortable for the real work to start next year. 1-2 years water movement, introduce back floating, water in face, spledging and kicking. 2 and up they can start kicking, breath holding, and more, but that will be based on the child’s comfort level in the water. I have some 6 year old that are not comfortable with water in their face.

I suggest at least 8 sessions. Session 1 is usually ok as kids generally like the water. 2/3 are pretty rough, they have figured out that it’s not play time and it’s work. By session 4 we have less tears and we are back to having some fun. Kids generally do not learn to swim in 1-2 weeks without prior water engagement.

Building foundations at a young is so important. Cooper is starting at 9 months old. He was engaged in his instruction and already mimicking. Such a joy to work with!!
