Been a while since I posted any of my work. Reproduction and skin mount brookies, in a spawning scene. The eggs were quite the challenge. They were white foam beads that needed to be painted. Found out one can't take a bunch of foam beads and turn an airbrush loose on them, or one gets foam beads raining down from the sky. Duh!!!! Ended up painting each egg by hand.

I guess I am feeling nostalgic today. In my early years, if I bothered to photograph my work, it was with 35mm slide or print film. These slides and negatives were then promptly placed in a forgotten location, known as the mess that defines my shop. Ultimately, the slides and negatives will be tossed in the dumpster after I die, because I'm to damn lazy to clean up my own messes before then. I pity the unlucky soul who cleans up after me! That person should consider being armed with heavy duty rubber gloves, oxygen mask, a couple bottles of liquid courage, and a small hand gun to shoot what ever scary creatures come running out.

Thanks to my wife who drug me kicking and screaming out of the cave, I now use digital photography. There are no more forgotten locations. The dumpster is replaced with a desk top trash bin. Isn't technology great? I still recommend the alcohol just for the fun of it!

These two pics are the earliest examples of my work that I possess. I believe they date to the first 5 years of my career. I remember nothing specific about them, including who caught them, who took the pics or how the pics got into my possession. What I do remember is being totally crazy about the driftwood.

Over the years, hundreds of people have asked me to put their mounts on driftwood. I tell them, "If you want me to find a piece, I charge $25 for it. And the wood won't be nothing fancy. But if you provide it, and don't bring me a "tree" that needs chainsawed down, I attach your mount to your wood for free." Then I add, "Use your imagination! Put some effort into your search. Find an artistic piece of wood that interacts well with your mount!" To those of you who are chuckling because you heard those words in person, these are the two pieces that inspired my thoughts.
