Posted • I had the privilege of having lunch with Coach Ben Perkins today.
Coach Perkins continues to work with New York Knicks Rookie, Quentin Grimes, as well as many young basketball talents in the Houston area.
After playing college hoops for Providence University and Mcneese State, Perkins played professional basketball for 9 years overseas.
When he returned to the States, Perkins shifted from Head Coaching to Player Development.
That is when he started his journey to invest his wealth of knowledge/experience in the game basketball/life into motivated athletes like Quentin Grimes.
I always find special interest in those who do what they love and love what they do. Coach Perkins dedicates his life to the game of basketball. He falls back from the spotlight that comes with AAU and NBA lifestyles and
sticks to his obession, basketball.
To be a trainer is to be a teacher. To be a teacher, is to pay it forward. The temperament you need to possess to know the success of your work will manifest through another human being is as selfless as it gets.
Shoutout to Coach Perkins and teachers like him, who are willing to run through a wall for young people, in order to get them to where they want to go.
It was a pleasure sitting down with you bro. Your story inspires me to continue believing in my work, even if I wont know the exact day when the results will surface.
