Tournament Days 25 and 26 are now complete!

The Venue for this one was an old favorite of ours and one of THE most supportive and “junior friendly” locations we play! Great staff and members and a golf course that’s ALWAYS challenging for every player, regardless of level!

For a change the weather was picture perfect too with zero threat of the famous Florida afternoon thunderstorms and the competition on the golf course, over both days, was exceptional through all age levels.

As usual the final task, on Sunday afternoon, was to confirm scores and make some hard-earned awards. The recipients were as follows:

BOYS 16-18 CHAMPION and Tournament Low Scorer - Alexander Pendry (Oviedo) 72-68-140

GIRLS 14-17 CHAMPION - Gabby Semmerling (Bradenton) 78-79-157

BOYS 13-15 CHAMPION - Reagan Smith (Harbor Hills) 75-71-146

BOYS 10’s CHAMPION - Bowen Lesky (Leesburg) 106-103-209

There were Nearest the Pin Wins for Palmer Cowden (Lake Nona) and Kai Bush (Winter Garden)

Each year since her passing, we gather to contest The Leona Curtis Cup, our tribute to a wonderful lady and a good friend who loved to play, and latterly even through illness, still managed to attend tournaments and support so many of the kids playing with us.

The venue(s) were Southern Oaks GC and Shallow Creek GC in The Villages. Thank you so much to the management and staff at both venues for your support and for looking after us, our players and families so well, we really appreciate you all!

The biggest achievement of them all came from our eventual champion golfer, Landon Howell (The Villages) who took home the trophy after an extraordinary weekend of play.

Landon took the win with a 64-66-130 !!! On his way to that record 36-hole low score for Claret Junior Tour he recorded no fewer than 14 Birdies AND an Eagle over 36 holes of golf...quite a weekend!
Our 13/15 Boys Flight Champion, Zeke Varela (Orlando) also did an exceptional job shooting his personal best on his way to his first tournament win with an impressive 70-66-136 to take the win!

Our 14/17 Girls Flight Champion is VERY familiar to winning with us, Maren Richards (Clermont) recorded 73-73-146 in this one for her second medal win with us this year. This was special too for Maren, and for us, as she is a Claret Tour Scholarship player and her sponsors are Greg and Leona Curtis!

Our final Flight Champion, our Boys 12U last played with us 5 years ago as an excitable 6-year-old! Fast forward and Sunday saw him win his first 36-hole tournament award, great job Koen Huther (Sorrento) 84-78-162.

Other prize winners were: Landon De Villiers (Riverview) and Liam Sunshine (Windermere) who took Nearest the Pin wins and sharing best day on day improvement awards were Landon Fields (The Villages Middleton) and Darren Ambrosi (Oviedo)

Thank You to everyone who welcomed us to Royal St Cloud Golf Links, the venue for our latest Junior Tournament Challenge.

This was our debut visit to this iconic and impressive St Cloud venue, and it certainly lived up to the fine reputation it has earned!

Challenging greens in great condition and a great layout were experienced by all who attended this one. Throw in the finest of Florida weather and you create a recipe for great golf and a lot of family fun memories being created too!

Thank you to ALL of our junior golfers who make these events so special. Regardless of golf scores YOU constantly impress us with your resilience, attitude and desire to ALWAYS work hard to be the best you can be in THE toughest individual sport of them all!

At our recent Phillips Toyota Junior Open Championship we didn’t have the opportunity to
make this award to Lady Lake/The Villages High School golfer Jackson Platt-Scarbrough who hit to only 3ft from 215 yards on the final day of play at Glenview Champions in The Villages!

Glad we could remedy that this past weekend…well played Jackson!

Our latest junior golf tournament was just a BIT more special this week for many reasons! Each year we enjoy amazing support from tour sponsors, Phillips Toyota and this past weekend we celebrated this as we once again hosted The Phillips Toyota Junior Open Championship at Glenview Champions GC in The Villages.Up for grabs, for the lowest scorer, was a unique golf prize, our own version of the oldest and most famous golf award of them all, The Claret Jug! Our tour took its name from this uniquely named trophy and each year at this time we award it, and the title of The Phillips Toyota Junior Open Champion, to one exceptional player!

This year we were delighted to be joined by Phillips Toyota GM, Rob Jordan, who presented the awards. First up we had our lowest scoring Flight Winners:

BOYS 13/15 - Tej Atluru (Sarasota) 74-71-145
GIRLS 12/16 - Isabella Miller (Orlando) 74-70-144
BOYS 12U - Blake Godfrey (The Villages) 77-69-146

Finally, it was time, to crown our lowest overall scorer and our new Claret Jug Champion, The 2026 Phillips Toyota Junior Open Champion is:

Landon Howell (The Villages) 73-70-143The total birdie count for the weekend was an astonishing 110 birdies AND an Eagle each for Kenzi Kacanich (The Villages) and Isabella Miller (Orlando) ....great job girls!!!

Well done to ALL who played. You continue to thrill and impress us with your talent, your etiquette and respect for each other and for our sport and your determination to be the best you can be! You make us so very PROUD of the exceptional young men and women you are becoming!

Our first Claret Junior Tour visit this year to the renowned Mission Resort + Club and yet another exceptional weekend of junior tournament golf! Mission Inn is without question one of the toughest, if not THE toughest, of places we visit each year! It’s both challenging and demanding in its layout and a venue where we NEVER expect low scoring from the majority of our juniors.
This is a venue that’s one of the best to remind our players that golf is THE toughest of all individual sports. A great deal of mental toughness is required when you visit a venue like this where one or two wayward shots can quickly turn into a high number! You need patience, determination and strong character to take on the challenge of Mission Inn and our group once again showed us they have what it takes to understand that even a higher than usual score can count as a great learning experience!Thank you to our long time sponsors DeSantis Appliance & AC Service, Inc. and Tri County Landscape and a very special thanks to Mr Rob Jordan Phillips Toyota who joined us at this one to watch some golf and meet some of our junior golfers on the tee! Our first Claret Junior Tour visit to Twin Rivers Golf Club,FL and one that turned out to be even more challenging than expected!
Twin Rivers is tight, well designed and clear from the minute you get to the green that $$$’s have been invested here and, make NO mistake, this one can cause you lots of golf grief if you can’t find the fairways!
It’s been a VERY long time since we have seen so many of our talented young players hitting these, higher than average, scores although each of them can take some comfort in the fact that the vast majority suffered the same fate! Our tour is built on a fundamental premise that we need to always be challenging our juniors ...this past weekend WE didn’t have to even think about that as the golf course did that for us!
Lesson learned players, never assume that the golf course won’t take a wee bite out of you! Check out our winners below and our Top 10, there were some exceptions who undoubtedly got closer to conquering the Twin Rivers challenge, Aiden Skrocki and Rhett Kirkland from The Villages, Tyler Reupert, Orlando and Palmer Cowden (Lake Nona) all recorded scores in the 70’s..great work boys!

Our 2026 Season is in full swing mode now as we completed tournament number 4 and waved goodbye to a VERY “weather-changeable” February in Florida!

This one WAS challenging for everyone as course conditions changed dramatically from Day 1 to Day 2 when the wind took a firm grip. Regardless, our junior golfers once again rose to the challenge, no complaints and no excuses from anyone as they all battled through in order to post the best score possible!

Thank you to everyone who played! You choose to compete in a sport where every tournament requires you to display a HUGE amount of mental strength and fortitude in order to be the very best you can be and so much of THAT was on full display once again this past weekend!

Players, you have our respect and our admiration for the way you conduct yourselves out there while competing in THE toughest of all individual sports, we are proud to be a part of your golf journey!
