If you think, you are late. If you are late, you use strength. If you use strength, you tire. And if you tire, you die.
β€” Saulo Ribeiro

This is what it looks like to learn it in real time. Nobody muscling. Nobody rushing. Just watching, waiting, moving when there's actually something to move on. Finding the angle. Changing a hand position. Then drilling it enough times to be ahead of your opponent.

Drop-in classes open to anyone who wants to see what that feels like.

Hell yeah. Almost tapped. Didn't have to.

Anyone else escape one solid attack just to land in another??

Prof. Donny breaks down the escape from a head and arm submission that doesn't just get you out β€” it shuts the door on whatever your opponent was going to do next.

Watch all the way to see Charles' reasoning on why the arm bar wasn't there.

No scramble. No panic. Just structure.

Anyone can do this!

What a weekend. Snapshot of part of the June Camp.

It's one weekend, built like a puzzle, where every piece connects to the next.

Day one started here β€” Wind Mountain, Washington. A climb steep enough to need ropes, through land with real Native history and folklore behind it, ending in a view of the Columbia River that made the whole group go quiet for a second before someone cracked a joke and broke it. A dad joke, you can guess who dropped it.

What looks like "just a hike" actually set the tone for everything that came after. The trust built scrambling up loose rock together. Telling stories about lives outside jiu jitsu, getting to bond with each other on a level more than "training partner".

.

Different pieces of the same weekend β€” never separate.

That's the camp.

A grip is never just a grip.

Charles spent this moment of camp breaking down the "Taco Grip" β€” the kind of detail that looks small until you realize it's the difference between a technique that works and one that almost works.

This is what three days of camp with these guys actually buys: instructors who stop class to make sure one detail lands before moving on. Not a seminar pace. A learning pace.

Small moment. Big part of why this camp works!

Ask any long-term jiu jitsu player what changed their jiu jitsu and they'll rarely say a technique.

They'll say a person. A conversation. A moment outside the gym where something clicked.

We built the Oregon adventure days around that truth.

Rafting the river together β€” not as a tourist activity, but as the kind of shared experience that accelerates trust between people who just met on the mat.

Hiking through The Columbia Gorge β€” where the conversations that don't happen in a gym finally have room to breathe.

Training at a local vineyard, then sharing a meal β€” because breaking bread after hard training is how communities have always been built.

You can find jiu jitsu instruction anywhere. You can find scenic locations everywhere. What you can't manufacture is the bond that forms when a group of people does hard, beautiful things together over three days.

That's what June 12–14 is actually about.

Most seminars give you one perspective for a few hours. You absorb what you can and go home.

Jiu Jistu + Adventure Camp Oregon 2026 gives you three black belts across three days β€” Donny Chance, Charles Harriott, and Erin Haines β€” each teaching differently, each challenging a different part of your game. And between sessions, Natasha ._ brings yoga and bodywork designed specifically for grapplers who want to show up recovered instead of wrecked.

But here's the part the curriculum doesn't capture:

The roll you have with someone from a gym you've never heard of. The detail one of the instructors gives you between sessions because they actually had time to watch you move. The conversation at the vineyard BBQ that changes how you think about your training.

That's not on the schedule. That's what happens when you put the right people in the same place for long enough.
