Leadership as a black belt

Is just one of our philosophies that we encourage our students to follow at ZTC-Taekwondo Center. We follow the steps of our Master “Ronny Zapata” whom he learned from our Grand-Master Cha Sok Park, President of P.A.T.U. (Pan American Taekwondo Union) and Vice-President of WTF (Wo

rld Taekwondo Federation). Master Ronny has studied Taekwondo since 1981 and with in his road walk he has participated in the American Taekwondo Games and all American Open Taekwondo Championships. The Taekwondo style that we follow is the Olympic Style, which means that our highest championship competition is the Olympic games. As being of the schools who offer the Olympic style, we encourage our students to train hard and to enrich themselves with experiences by participating in tournaments and to never give up! Everyone always talks about how good it is to be a black belt or how strong and powerful one must be to have archive such level of training. I once was one of these individuals who was heavily influenced by media and entertainment. My heavyset influences towards the martial arts and my other half of my personal balance, visual arts. Are The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As funny as it my sound its the truth. Although they practiced Jiujutsu, I was always more impressed with kicking. It's why I chose to do Taekwondo as my basic art form. Once I saw my new found brothers and sisters practicing I couldn't wait I just wanted to start practicing right their and then. It's then when I know that this art was right for me and it still stays true to this day. I always felt at peace and clam no matter how difficult the task, how painful the task or even how tried I would be. I worked as hard as I could and made sure to surpass the optical that layed a head of me. You maybe wondering why am I writing about this, that it dose not have anything to do with being a leader as a black belt. In fact it has everything to do with being a leader as a black belt. A black belt by definition other then new beginning, is to be a leader for his/her priors and to set an example for others out in life that need some sort of guidance. In which can be obtained though his/her journey through their respected art. Form the moment his/her fire is eggnighted to the moment they step up and dawn their individual black belt. They should have learned what it took to be in that position and what it means to be in that position not just the typical generic version of it, but what it means to have honor and the responsibility that comes with it. However many may fall into the wrong crowds harm themselves and others around them or even just set a bad example here and their to those just watching their every move. A leader takes charge no matter what the optical may be and if they don't understand something, they as a leader find a way to understand it. By being honest to their followers and emitting when something is wrong or when something is done right he/she knows that's communication and understanding is the main probity to any situation and that expressing physical or verbal anger only leads to more conflicts. A true leader is clam when the going gets tuff and projects their indominal spirit during the up most conflicting moments knowing that their is no easy way out of anything. The reasonability a black belt leader must have is this and more to know that there is no sham in backing down from any situation that one dose not feel confinable in. That even though you are capable of doing something it dose not really mean you should. Knowing that showing off and acting out or playing around with what one learns through training could be potentially dangerous and harmful to others, if not controlled properly. Taking considerations to those among you and understand what their strongest and weakest points are also trades of a great leader, by listening to what they have to say and not thinking that your better then anyone just cause what your capable of. By keeping in mind what your ignorant on, another individual can be a genus in. As time passes a leader become more of a better leader and a better companion by keeping an open mind and never just sticking to one sty. In actuality becoming a leader as a back belt can be said as four different types like the ninja turtles have shown in the own personalities. Theirs the strong spiral leader that follows everything by the book and looks out for his/her team by getting in the fire themself displaying all quality a true leader will possess; courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, honesty, humility, and indomitable spirit. The smart technical leader that finds and makes a plane for his/her every move. Every step of the way displaying; honesty, courtesy, integrity, humility and self-control. The one who makes everyone feel calm and at aeis when the going gets tuff dose not really rely on planning but makes one according to the situation their in by adjusting whatever he/she has at the moment displaying; honesty, humility, courtesy, perseverance, and indomitable sprite. The hard core muscle driven leader he/she dose not rely on a plan just gets in the action and makes it work their way through their perseverance and indomitable sprite. In my opinion everyone is born a leader and has every quality to be a great one it’s just a matter of how one develops it as they grow and what makes them bring it out. The true path of a black belt leader not just in taekwondo, but also in any disciple or sport can be found though their master, couch, trainer and companions. How their pushed, carried and encouraged to make it to the point where they themself will push as far as they can. I myself am a black belt leader in life, who still needs to work more on my focus and self-control. Knowing what it takes to be a great leader to those around working and me to become the great leader I seek to be. For this I oh it all to those who guided me through the way and told me I can when the going got tuff. Pushed me when the world came crashing down on me and showed me that you maybe the one doing all the work that's needs to be done to get to where your heart desires, but your never alone in the path you chosen. Taekwondo trained me to over come any optical, any situation weather it’s was mind, body, and/or sprite. You may be thinking that your training your body to fight or just protect yourself from harms way. In actuality you’re training yourself to over come anything life can possibly throw at you, to open your mind to a whole new perspective of how to handle thing and do things. To know that anything is possible as long as your willing to work for it. Being a leader this is what I reflect and teach in my everyday life. That short you can be knocked around, brought down, and told that something can't be done. However no matter how much it's shoved and thrown to your face the only way something can't be possible, the only way something can be true is when you your self start to believe it's not possible or its true. I took a push and a shove here and there, but I always believed I could. So now I stand a proud leader with my head held high working and pushing my self to become a better individual in life. A better person not just for my friends and family but also for the most important person I can ever do anything for myself. My master once told me something ill never forget right before I got my white belt, " You don't know what you just got yourself into." In which at the time I thought I did, but in actuality I didn't until now. I got into a way to make my self a better me, a way to view and understand things in a whole new perspective. This is taekwondo you will train with your mind, body and sprite to reach what many feel is impossible but few will learn that everything is possible. WHO IT MAY CONCERN

A Tribute to Ecuadorian Pride in the United States
Newark, New Jersey — August 7, 2026. — During a significant ceremony held in the State of New Jersey, Master Ronny M. Zapata, an International Taekwondo Referee, Master Instructor, and proud representative of Ecuador at international sporting events, was honored by the Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (EACCNJ) in recognition of his outstanding professional career and his contributions to sports, the community, and society.
The Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (EACCNJ) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the integration and development of entrepreneurs, professionals, business owners, organizations, and community leaders, while strengthening ties between Ecuador, the State of New Jersey, and the United States of America.
The organization promotes and supports various areas of interest to the Ecuadorian community, including commerce, business, tourism, gastronomy, culture, the arts, professional and artistic talent, sports, and other initiatives that contribute to the growth and integration of the community.
In this context, the EACCNJ highlighted the distinguished career of Master Ronny M. Zapata, recognizing his service as an International Taekwondo Referee, Master Instructor, and member of the Ecuadorian Taekwondo Association (ETA-USA).
The organization also recognized his continued commitment to the development of sports, his charitable and community service, and his contribution to educating and mentoring new generations through the core values of Taekwondo, including discipline, respect, perseverance, leadership, and excellence.

Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Master Ronny M. Zapata currently continues his professional career in the United States, where he proudly represents his homeland at various international Taekwondo events and competitions.
Through his work as an international referee and Master Instructor, Zapata has had the opportunity to carry the name of Ecuador to numerous sporting venues around the world, becoming an example of perseverance, professionalism, and Ecuadorian pride.

Ecuadorian Taekwondo Referee Earns Recognition in the United States and Internationally Master Ronny Zapata Cevallos, originally from Guayaquil , Ecuador, has become one of the most respected taekwondo referees in the United States. Based in New York, he is the director and owner of ZTC Taekwondo Center in the Bronx, where he has dedicated his career to developing athletes and promoting excellence in the sport. Recognized as one of the most experienced referees in the tri-state area, Master Zapata has played an important role in raising the standard of taekwondo officiating locally, nationally, and internationally. Beyond the competition floor, he has mentored new generations of referees through seminars and training, encouraging fairness, consistency, and excellence. As Secretary General of ETA-USA, he has worked alongside President Master Jorge Peláez to support athletes, coaches, and referees by promoting a better understanding and application of the rules, contributing to the growth of taekwondo in the United States. Master Zapata holds the rank of 6th Dan Kukkiwon Black Belt and is a World Taekwondo Class3 International Referee. He is also affiliated with the Ecuadorian Taekwondo Federation (FETKD) and serves as an official for AAU Taekwondo in the United States. Throughout his career, he has been selected to officiate numerous prestigious events and has earned recognition for his outstanding performance and dedication.
