The season is officially underway, and our ⚡Cresskill Cougars United Soccer Club⚡ teams are hitting the field — but we’ve got a few open spots and we’re calling on BOYS born in 2018 and GIRLS born in 2015 to jump in and join the action NOW!

💥 Our younger teams are the perfect launchpad for passionate players who want to grow their skills in a fun, team-focused environment.
💥 Our older teams are geared to develop dedicated athletes on their path to high school-level play—and beyond.

Cresskill Cougars United Soccer Club will be having tryouts for all boys born in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 (existing and new players) April 30th at Holy Angels field, between 6-8 pm.

Once signed up we'll communicate through teamsnap about the exact timing of your group on that night. To be considered for next fall's teams at these age groups everyone needs to sign up using this teamsnap link.

For any girls not currently playing for the club who are interested in joining, please fill out the form as we'll be having clinics for the younger age groups and chances to attend practices for new players in the older age groups to hopefully join next fall.

For boys 2014 and older interested in joining the club, please fill out the form and we will coordinate with the coaches of our existing teams to get them assessed at one of those teams practices.

Our goals as always are to balance having competitive teams with making sure each child is placed on an appropriate team that gives them the best chance to succeed and develop as a player.

There is no payment required at this time, this is just a way for us to organize tryouts where needed and assess where we might need to add players for the 2024-2025 season.

Instructions for this process are as follows, please read carefully to see which situation applies to your child:

Girls:

All players interested in returning and potential new players please register using this link so we can assess our numbers for the fall and see how many teams we will be able to field. For the younger age groups we expect to have some clinics later this spring where we can help introduce the girls to soccer and attempt to form teams based on skill level.

Boys:

If your child is born 2018-2015 we will be having tryouts for all existing and new players to the club, hoping to get these done in the first half of May.

This is to ensure that everyone is placed on an appropriate team based on their skill level and children born in the same calendar year are together.

Please register using the link and keep an eye out for updates through teamsnap about the exact day/time of tryouts.

If your child is born 2014-2010 and already plays on the club, please register so that we know he’s interested in returning. For new players, please register using this link and we will have him attend an existing team’s practice this spring so we can assess whether he is a fit to join that team for the fall season.

Cougars U14 Girls Win the NCSA Cup!

It took 6 years but the U14 Cougars United Girls team finally got their cup.

In 2016 when they were a U9 team the girls made it all the way to the finals at Ramapo College but fell short in a harrowing 3-1 defeat.
Nobody thought it would take that long but they spent the next 6 years trying to get back to Ramapo College making it to the semi-finals last year but came back stronger this year.
When they finally did get back to Ramapo they weren't going to leave anything to chance

In a game played on Saturday June 3rd under overcast skies the CougarsUnited girls defeated the Vikings 1-0 in the type of game the girls have thrived in all year.
The CougarsUnited defense was stifling giving up only a couple of shots on goal while the midfield and offense controlled the tempo but were kept off the scoreboard for the first half.
That changed as they came out hot in the second half and scored the only goal they'd need.

With five girls from the original team who had come so close now able to take their trophy, the team rejoiced and finally exhaled

Cougars United will be having tryouts for the Fall 2023 – Spring 2024 season in the next month.

If you are a current player we will be having full tryouts for all children born in 2016, 2015 and 2014. For any current players on older teams please use this link to sign up and give us a sense of how many returning players we’ll have for next year.

For anyone new to the club please fill out the registration form and we will place you in the group tryout for the younger ages or put you in touch with the coaches of our existing older teams to arrange an individual or small group tryout.

We anticipate having tryouts on a Saturday in May working around our existing teams schedules, more details to come once we get a better sense of the number of players interested at each age group.

Upon learning of a special needs soccer program run out of Harrington Park, the U14 girls soccer team offered to volunteer. They had their first practice where the U14 girls were the coaches helping the players with passing, dribbling and shooting. Even though it was a dreary rainy day our girls were all smiles and they vowed to continue it through the program’s seven week program.

VIP soccer runs weekly on Saturdays from 4 to 5 pm out of Harrington Park. For families with a special needs child who would like to participate please contact [email protected] and our club will sponsor any Cresskill special needs child who would like to participate.

Cougars United soccer kicked off their Kick Breast Cancer campaign with a number of our teams donning pink socks to spread awareness. The girls teams playing Sunday had an impressive 3-1-1 day and will be wearing the socks for the entire month to continue to spread awareness!

Cougars United would like to congratulate our U13 Girls team on a perfect 10-0 season where they outscored their opponents 35-5! Led by coaches David Spelbrink, Adam Tejeda and Brian Webster and trained by Sebastián León this team also made it to the semi-finals of the NCSA cup in what was a fantastic season for many players who have been with the club since their U9 season.

TRYOUTS & REGISTRATION FALL 2022 – SPRING 2023 SEASON
We will be having tryouts in mid June 2022 for the Fall 2022 – Spring 2023 season, date and time of the tryout still to be determined. This will be available for all children born in 2015 or before (older.) If you’re interested in playing next fall please register at https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/316226.

For existing players we don’t expect to have tryouts at every age level but please register so we can accurately assess our player needs for the fall. There will be no payment required at this time.
