It was a hot afternoon—the kind that doesn’t belong in September, but, because it’s Texas, a few always manage to creep their way in. But, like all afternoons since 1968, there sat the monstrous, two-mile race track that once hosted the highest levels of American auto racing. Only this time, things…

Canceled: There is a scheduling conflict at the Texas World Speedway, this Friday's event (8/18) has been canceled, *please let others know*.

Dates for the next event will be updated in the coming weeks - there are options for Saturday and Sunday events in the future.

Big turnout considering how hot it is - 105 vehicles through tech so far. Lots of spectators as well!

Doing a little track prep! Thanks to Josh Royall and Dustin for bringing and applying some sticky stuff. Sprayed about 100feet in both lanes. Tonight we will see how much it helps.

BCSstreet Top 10! List after April 4/7/17 event

1 Enoch Rodriguez – turbo foxbody (got it where it counts)
2 David Levine – 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat (speed boat)
3 Todd Kay –Buick GN (old person car)
4 Joey Bakalian - 1955 Chevy (Fast Big Yellow)
5 Alex Huck - 2013 Mustang GT (Coyote’s travel in packs)
6 Zach England - 03 Cobra Vert (didn’t get the Coyote memo)
7 Daniel Mansfield - 201? Mustang GT (Coyote’s travel in packs)
8 Luke Velten - GT350 (prettiest Mustang)
9 Corey Cox - LS swapped Mustang (would have been higher if he bothered to run anyone)
10 David Issacs – LS swapped Mustang (OMG!!!! Didn’t run on his own tires!!!!1!!111)

Enoch held David off twice – even with a hurt motor on the second run. David’s boat is making too much power now and getting prop wash.

Todd beat Joey in a race that was close enough that we had to go check the video, and even then it wasn’t obvious. Joey’s shifter broke and he couldn’t run again.

5th – 8th are all friends and they ran each other multiple times to see where they sorted out. 9th and 10th said sure, put them on the list, but no one challenged them and they mainly bench raced.

A bunch of our fast regulars didn’t make it out, so I can see some big list movement when they come back (everyone is modding their cars it seems).

Helpers for this Friday: Anyone interested in helping me work the event? Let me know and I will put you down for free entry.

Also , I might need people with trucks (with trailer hitches) that can help bring lights to the track.

Thanks

Multiple weather forecasts have rain coming through Saturday night and Sunday (100% chance, and decent amount of rain at that). This Sunday's drag racing is cancelled. Next event on the calendar is Friday April 7th.

03/17/2017

Please let people know that we are not racing tonight!

Also, the Sunday April 2nd event is a go - I will make an event post with more details soon.

This Friday's TWSdrags event (March 17th) is being canceled.

Between spring break, St. Patrick's day and TX2K - there is a shortage of workers and interest.

We have been offered a Sunday afternoon event for April 2nd - would people want to race then?

Next scheduled event is April 7th.

BCSstreet Top 10! List

After February event (2/17/17)

1 Enoch Rodriguez – turbo foxbody (got it where it counts)

2 David Levine – 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat (speed boat)

3 Joey Bakalian - 1955 Chevy (Fast Big Yellow)

4 Mickey Smith – Ford Mustang GT500 (all black snake)

5 Will Carter – S10 (Obviously not stock)

6 Nick Raley – 4th gen Pontiac fbody (Formula, Firebird, TransAm, Firehawk – one of these)

7 Todd Kay –Buick GN (old person car)

8 Will Crain – Ford Mustang GT (all the bolt ons!)

9 Daniel Mansfield – Ford Mustang GT (street racer starter pack)

10 Michael Mache – 1970 Camaro (don’t lose to Todd again)

A lot of movement on the list, was expected since it has just been started. Will Crain couldn’t make it out, he didn’t drop due to losing. The list will probably be extended to a top 10, we have a lot of good people who could be on it, and should keep things interesting.

Enoch Rodriguez worked his way up the list, starting by beating #5. He beat David Levine to take #1 spot. David challenged from the #2 spot later in the night, and Enoch was able to hold him off and claim the #1 spot firmly.

Joey Bakalian and his yellow 55 Chevy worked his way up to #3, where he challenged the then #2 David Levine – but David was able to take the win by a fender!

Daniel Mansfield was a trooper, running many times to defend his spot, beating Israel Hernandez before losing to both Enoch and Joey.

Nick Raley got overrun by the new comers as well, with Will Carter taking his #5 spot.

Michael Mache and Todd Kay ran, with Todd coming out on top, where he lost to Will Carter who had beaten Brian Bishop.

I made an “award” that has the list positions, and I will give a copy to each person on the list at the next event. I had copies of the January list, but didn’t get them to everyone at the event, I will bring copies to the next event.

Helpers - Thanks for helping at the TWSdrags events! These are unpaid workers which spend some of their Friday night helping. I don't remember everyone's names, and I didn't get photos of everyone. James Shaw brought out 2 of the lights for the event. Blue Line Rental of Bryan has been donating the lights we use at the events.

If anyone wants to help this Friday, let me know and I'll put you on the list to get in free.
