Happiness Bag, Inc. The only educational oriented facility designed for individuals with disabilities in the Wabash Valley.

Happiness Bag is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3, United Way of the Wabash Valley agency. We are the only agency in the Wabash Valley to provide recreational and educational programs and services for individuals with disabilities, ages 5 to adult. Programs offered by Happiness Bag:
*Adult Day Service * After-School * Summer Day Camp * Adventure Weekends * Respite Care * Friend's Club * Recreational Swim

Happiness Bag is a Medicaid Waiver provider for Adult Day Services, Community Habilitation and Respite Care through the Indiana Bureau of Developmental Disability Services. Happiness Bag also is the County program for Special Olympics in this area. Athletes in Vigo, Clay, Park, Vermillion, Sullivan, Greene, and surrounding Illinois counties are given the opportunity to train and compete in: Aquatics; Athletics; Basketball; Bocce; Bowling; Softball; and Unified Volleyball. Happiness Bag currently provides programming and service opportunities to over 350 individuals from across the Wabash Valley. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, with representation from various members of the Wabash Valley community, seeking to further the opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

We’ve had some tough years during the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza — especially with traffic making it hard for our friends, families, and staff to get in and out of the facility. Honestly, we expected more of the same this year… but WOW, that has not been the case.

Before the event, we spoke with the Scheid Diesel team to talk through past challenges. And when traffic started backing up on Thursday, local law enforcement jumped right in and took charge. They made sure everyone connected to Happiness Bag could get in and out safely, and today has been just as smooth. Lots of cars, lots of activity — but no stress. They’ve been absolutely fantastic.
