COACH’S CORNER | COACH BILLY GALLANT 🏈
This week, we’re highlighting JV Head Coach Billy Gallant, now in his 27th year coaching football and serving for the second time as JV Head Coach at Templeton under Coach Crow.
For Coach Gallant, coaching has always been about more than the game. His own JV football coach had a major impact on his life and remains a father figure to him today—a relationship that helped shape the kind of coach he hoped to become.
Now, he hopes to have that same lasting impact on the young men he coaches.
At the JV level, Coach Gallant believes in building a strong foundation—teaching the fundamentals of football while developing communication, work ethic and lessons that carry far beyond the field.
One message he emphasizes with his players every day is simple:
“The only thing a person has complete control of is their attitude & effort.”
That same sense of connection is part of what he values about being at Templeton.
“The community support for Templeton Football is incredible and unmatched on the Central Coast.”
He also appreciates the sense of family within the program—the way JV and varsity coaches and players work together toward one common goal, and especially the varsity players who support and mentor the younger players coming up behind them.
Outside of football, Coach Gallant is a Cal Poly graduate and tax accountant who helps run his family business, operating six H&R Block offices throughout SLO County. He and his wife Kelli, a Templeton alum, have two children, Kaden and Kaia. Away from the field, he enjoys classic cars, scuba diving, underwater photography and traveling with his family.
Nearly three decades into coaching, the reason behind it still comes back to something pretty simple: the impact one coach can have on a young person’s life.
We’re grateful to have Coach Gallant investing his time, experience and leadership into the next generation of Templeton Football.
