Just one follow-up from yesterday’s games at Wrigley Field…

It was so much fun seeing the comments and pictures from so many people in our Gateway volleyball community who were fortunate enough to be there.

But there was something else that really stood out to me.

Watching the players from Missouri and Nebraska grab towels and jump in to help improve the court conditions. Watching the dance-offs and the laughter. Watching these young women handle less-than-ideal circumstances with grace, joy and a genuine love for the game.

Those moments may not show up in a box score, but they say so much about our sport and the young women who play it.

Yesterday, on one of the biggest stages volleyball has ever had, they showed everyone that competing at a high level and having fun don't have to be mutually exclusive. They showed sportsmanship, resilience and joy—even when things weren't going exactly as planned.

And somewhere, there was probably an SLG — Some Little Girl — watching all of it.

We truly are fortunate to be part of the best sport going.
