Goat-boater was a term used in early surf days in a more derogatory sense to poke fun at those who chose to surf via surf ski or sea kayak. After spending some time traveling the world and learning about the art of surfing I found the name goat-boater quite funny. The sport of surfing has grown and expanded into many forms over the years. Although, a few of those expansions have been around for a

long time they are becoming more popular world-wide and within each of our communities. A few of those expansions include kayaking, wake surfing and SUP (stand-up paddleboard). In an effort to turn my passion for surfing into a life-long adventure I’ve established “The Goat Boater.”

If you are considering purchasing a board or renting one for awhile, we can help. If you are hoping to meet friends who love to paddle, get involved with community service projects and/or take part in weekly paddle excursions and fitness classes, then this is a good site to book mark. Our goal at The Goat Boater is to provide a fun, thriving, inviting fitness environment that stimulates senses, unleashes passions and preserves health. WE DID IT AGAIN! 🔥

Dam 2 Dam 2026 was another huge success on Lake Wylie!

Two proud Tega Cay residents — Megan Cynowa (owner of The Goat Boater, Lake Wylie Paddleboarding) and Dr. Rob Cynowa (owner of Complete Wellness Chiropractic) — helped lead the charge with the Goat Boater crew. Together they guided 27 dedicated paddlers on a tough 26-mile journey from Mountain Island Lake to the Lake Wylie Dam.

This year brought serious challenges:
13 grueling hours on the water
95° heat beating down

…but the paddlers pushed through with heart and purpose, raising $60,000+ (and counting!) for cancer support through the 24 Foundation. Every stroke honored those fighting cancer, the families supporting them, and the loved ones we’ve lost.

A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to all the Tega Cay residents who cheered us on from the shores, bridges, and boats — your encouragement meant everything on such a long, hot day! This event truly captured the strong community spirit that makes Tega Cay so special.

Thank you to every paddler, volunteer, supporter, and donor who made this possible. Events like this show what our local community is capable of when we come together.

It’s go time! The Goat Boater in conjunction with the 24 Foundation will usher paddlers 24+ miles down Lake Wylie. The Dam 2 Dam event raises funds for cancer support services in the Charlotte regional area. Paddlers hit the water at 6:30am tomorrow morning.
