A little mid-show-season reminder:

It’s not always about the ribbons or premiums...

Sometimes it’s the early mornings, the goofy moments, the trail rides, the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the memories we’ll talk about for years.

We’re lucky to have such a great horse community!

What’s been your favorite horse memory so far this summer?

Extreme Heat Reminder for Horse Owners

With temperatures climbing into the upper 90s the last several days and today, it's a great time to give our horses a little extra attention. Here are a few simple ways to help keep them comfortable and safe:

Make sure fresh, clean water is always available. Horses can drink a surprising amount of water on hot days!

Provide access to shade whenever possible. Trees, shelters, or a well-ventilated barn can make a big difference.

Don't be afraid to hose your horse down! Cool water is an effective way to help lower body temperature. Focus on the neck, chest, shoulders, hindquarters, and legs. If it's especially hot and humid, scrape the water off and repeat with fresh cool water.

Plan riding or exercise for the early morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.

Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive sweating, rapid breathing that doesn't slow down with rest, lethargy, weakness, or reluctance to move. If your horse isn't recovering with cooling and rest, contact your veterinarian.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and don't forget to take care of yourself, too! We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day with their horses.

How are you helping your horses beat the heat today? Share your tips or photos in the comments!
