Aikido North Jersey AIKIDO NORTH JERSEY is a traditional dojo teaching the Japanese martial art of Aikido. The movements of Aikido are balanced, circular, and amazingly effective.

Aikido North Jersey is a beautiful traditional dojo teaching the Japanese martial art of Aikido, an art of unsurpassed beauty and power that can be used by men, women and children of all ages and abilities. Aikido was developed in the 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba, known to his students as O Sensei (" Great Teacher"). O Sensei was one of the greatest martial artists of all time and his Aikido is

based on centuries-old Samurai fighting techniques. However, Aikido is unique among the martial arts in that its goal is to redirect and control aggression without inflicting injury on the attacker. Harmonizing with an opponent, harmonizing with oneself, and, eventually, harmonizing with the world is the ultimate purpose of Aikido. You do not need to be big or athletic to begin training, you only need the desire to learn and to show up for classes. Through practice you will become strong and confident. Aikido training is healthy for your whole body - you’ll lose excess weight, tone and stretch muscles, make your joints stronger and more flexible, and develop complete balance and agility. You will also develop better focus and concentration and relieve physical and mental stress. All this while learning one of the world’s most effective self-defense systems! Men, women, and children of all ages and sizes find Aikido training to be satisfying, challenging, healthy and fun. In joining our dojo, you become a member of a sincere and friendly community of students. Everyone at the dojo is serious about their training yet the atmosphere is always happy, relaxed and cooperative. There are no contests or trophies in Aikido; we all help each other to improve. Beginning Aikido training is the first step on a wonderful and exciting journey that will change your life for the better in so many ways - it will allow you to feel safer in the world, make your body healthier and more balanced, calm and sharpen your mind and free your spirit.

BLACK BELT and KYU Tests at Aikido North Jersey yesterday! All the tests were excellent and everyone passed with flying colors, proof of hard work and serious dedication!
Big congratulations to David Stevens for Shodan (David started training at 5 years-old!), to Bob Koncelik for Shodan, to Mike Bell for First Kyu, and to Kai Okawachi for Fifth Kyu (Kai is from our Teen Program). Thanks to all our super Ukes for their sincere attacks, we couldn't test without you!

October 14th, Sensei will be at Aikido New London County for their Grand Opening Fundraising Seminar. As many of you may recall, our former Program Director, Crystal Aldrich, opened her own school in August. We are very proud of her, and Sensei is delighted to teach the first of many seminars at her space.

We are also joined by Marie Shaffer Sensei of Long Beach Island Aikikai. This is an event to not be missed!
