Last week, we had a turnout of 19. We started arriving in a timely manner, started the game on time and got in a full 9 innings. It was good to welcome back Ari, as he made his season debut. While I forgot to write down the final score, it was a tad lopsided. On a team level, there were 4 double plays turned in total. Individual highlights included; Will and his 6 strikeouts, Manny's HR blast to deep center field, and Joey's numerous plays at SS.

Everything remains the same for this week. Please invite anyone who you think would enjoy our little game, add anyone to the email chain, please arrive in time so that we can start at 10:00, and you can follow us on Facebook at Old Fogie Softball. If anyone was dropped off he email chain, it was purely by accident and please add them back on.

I look forward to seeing everyone one Sunday

Well, this write up will be short. Old Fart Softball was rained out for both ends of the Memorial Day double header. Mother nature won.

We look to regroup this Sunday, when the weather outlook looks beautiful. All the rules remain unchanged. Invite anyone you think would enjoy our game, arrive around 930 so we can get in a full 9 inning game before the 12 noon cut off, and add anyone to the email chain.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday

Last week's turnout was epic. The largest since at least Covid. We had 29 players come out to enjoy a Sunday morning softball game. We played 15 on 14. We were happy to see Dave C back on the field, and It was good to see Pyramid Builder, Kevin and Shawn back in the fray. The game its self was lopsided with the home team jumping out to a lead, and they never looked back. The final score was 23-2. There was a nice NG Chuck-Will -Sammy double play. Alexis had a nice HR to right, Dave C struck out Danny, and Will playing shortstop were among the highlights.

This week, we will attempt to play a double header with a game on Sunday and a game on Monday. Hopefully Mother Nature is an Old Fart fan and will allow us to get two in. As there is uncertainty with the weather, and it being a holiday, please RSVP to each game, Sunday and Monday. We want everyone in the loop and knowing what to expect when they leave for the game.

All the other rules, such as they are remain the same. Invite anyone you think would enjoy our game, arrive around 930 so we can get in a full 9 inning game before the 12 noon cut off, and add anyone to the email chain.

I look forward to seeing everyone at least once this weekend

We had a nice turnout last week with 20 players coming out to enjoy Sunday softball. We hope that Dave C is felling better, and we hope he is able to join us this week. Will took the phrase 'hit the cutoff man" literally. The game was slanted to the offense as the visitors jumped out to and maintained a decent lead. The score was 19-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th when the home team tried to mount a comeback. It fell just short with the final score 19-16 to the visitors. Despite the score, there were some outstanding defensive gems, with Joey making two stellar grabs in center field. Myles contributes his own diving grab in center and Dylan has a great diving catch at shortstop.

The "rules" such as they are remains the same, Invite anyone you think would enjoy our game, and enjoy a Sunday morning on the diamond. Arrive around 9:30 so we can start around 10:00 and get in a full 9 inning game prior to our 12:00 noon curfew. Feel free to add anyone to the email chain.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday

Well, Opening Day of the 2026 Old Fart Softball season is in the book and it was quite successful. We have a turnout of 26 who participated in the festivities. The final score was 19-8 as the visitors pulled away late in the game. Dave Chen had a nice shot to left and Dave Tider was was solid on the mound after an off season recovery from heart surgery. It was wonderful to see OG Chuck back on the field and we have a nice visit from Tyriek. Welcome to all of the new faces.

Let build upon opening day with another good turnout. As always, feel free to bring down anyone you think might enjoy our little game. Also, you can add anyone to our email chain.

Well, congratulations to the hearty 12 who came out for softball last week. Yes, there was a game, as we overcame Will's dead car battery, and a wet field to play 4X4X4 softball. A special thank you goes out to Dave Tider and NG Chuck for getting the field into playable conditions. Despite the difficult, wet and windy, conditions, 3 innings were played with the final score 15-15-1. Gabe made a great running catch in right. Paul C, and NG Chuck hit for the cycle.

As the weather is getting colder and the turn out getting lighter, we will make an attempt to add one final game to the 2025 Old Fart Softball season. We need a solid positive RSVP of 16 to have a game this week. Regardless of this upcoming week, I would like to thank everyone for a hugely successful 2025 season. We have added a number of players to our ranks and have managed to have games in November. Some good softball was also played!! We can only hope the upcoming 2026 season will be equally successful.

Please, RSVP to the email chain if you can make the final game of the 2025 season. I will be there (no home football this week) and look forward to seeing everyone. Please invite anyone you think would enjoy our game, and please let us know your intentions. Looking for those 16 hearty souls.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday!

Congrats to everyone that came out to extend the 2025 Old Fart Softball season another week. We had 18 hearty sould come out to play last week. Also, that you to everyone that RSVPed to the email chain, even if you couldnt make the game. It allowed everyone to know where we stood with the numbers and to be able to plan ahead. That is especially important with the season winding down and the weather getting iffy. So, thank you to EVERYONE!

We had an 8 inning game that was nip and tuck through out. The away team eeeked out a 18-17 victory, Dave Tider went 4-4 and pitched for BOTH teams, presumably picking up the win (and loss). Sammy went 4-6 with two doubles, though the official scorer was seen at the concession stand for the second double. Home run hitters included; Zach, Gabe, Brett and Danny as usual.

The weather for the upcoming weekend is officially "IFFY", so lets keep up with the RSVPing to the email chain.

I look forward to hearing about a good game this week
