šŸ””FINAL 10 COUNTšŸ””

We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jim Stewart.

Jim….aka ā€œ2.0ā€ was always a joy to have in class! The second he came through the door he had a smile on his face! There was never a time that I didn’t hear him encouraging and challenging someone to give their all. He had a loud strong voice and he loved to use it for some high quality trash talk before hitting mitts with me!

ā€œDid ya get some good sleep last night, coach? You’re gonna need it! I’m gonna take you down todayā€šŸ˜‚ He would say multiple times ā€œis that all ya got?ā€ He was ornery…..he was AMAZING and he gave 100% at all times!

We are all grateful he chose our program so we could consistently be blessed with his presence šŸ™ He was one in a million!

Please keep his wife Judy in your prayers. She was such a wonderful support system for Jim. We love her just as much and thankful for always keeping him goingšŸ™

2.0…..you will be loved and missed,
Your Rock Steady Boxing Family

Anna Lowry is from our hometown!!

We make life better for people with Parkinson's through expert care and research. Everything we do helps people enjoy life with friends, families, children and grandchildren until there is a tomorrow without Parkinson's.

Day 30 (and the last day) of Parkinson's Awareness Month - and what does that mean - NOTHING, because as my friends far and near will attest, Parkinson's will still be here on May 1, and June 1

In Gil Thelen's, "Counterpunch: Duking it out with Parkinson's, Gil writes in Chapter 12 "Making 'Good Trouble'" - Parkinson's is a Monster: infinite symptoms. Multiple causes, NO TREATMENT TEMPLATE. If cancer is the "emperor of Diseases," Parkinson's is the 'Enigma of (Neurological) Conditions.' Fighting back starts with valid, actionable information. With that, EMPOWERMENT is possible."

For me, Betsy, there is endless learning in my future about Parkinson's... My hope is, with knowledge and heart I can be a positive force (and sweet and silly at the same time - šŸ™‚ ) in the lives of folks with Parkinson's so they can stand strong and be proud and above all, KEEP MOVING!!!!

Interesting notes from our Boxers …

It’s Not a Death Sentence!

Not everyone has Tremors…

There is a camaraderie amongst us that allows us to have truthful conversations…

Exercise has become one of the most important things I can do to keep Parkinson’s from progressing…

We have all become good friends … even with our coaches!!!!

Can’t forget our Volunteers!

Steve Turner

Steve is our most recent volunteer at Rock Steady Boxing, but you would never know it.
He brings his energy and the boxers benefit from it entirely.
Give him a set of mitts and watch out!
His ability to motivate and assist with such ease is a plus-plus for our class! No one is ignored!

We truly appreciate him!
Thank you, Steve

George Rice. On the Left of Pic

George started coming to volunteer about 3 years ago.
He is always ready to help the boxers.
He gives us ( the coaches) a few pointers and keeps us on our toes!

George always listens to any tips or suggestions given that will help our boxers continue to be able to perform all the exercises in a class.

He never misses a class and helps keep the boxers moving from beginning to end!

Keep attending George. We need you!!! And Thank you!

Can’t forget the Volunteers!

Larry Kemner. On the Right of Pic

I really don’t have enough words to thank this man for his commitment to our Rock Steady Program.
He is our #1 volunteer.
He has all the heart and patience to put up with whatever we(the coaches) decide to do in class.
We couldn’t do it without you!

He’s there to assist our boxers.
He’s there to help set up and take down equipment.
He’s there to give advice.
He’s there to make a difference!!!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support of Rock Steady Boxing.

Parkinson’s Awareness Month

ā€œQuietā€ Jim

Jim Wilcox has just started to attend Rock Steady Boxing.
He has been learning to box and has a heavy strong punch.
He has a great sense of humor and he is always ready to work out with that quiet smile on his face!
The word ā€œcan’tā€ has been taken out of his vocabulary!
