At this point I'm starting to think that Peter's spent too many years drawing demons. This one looks particularly nasty.

One of the final spells in the game is a huge blast that destroys all demonic forces around you! After some testing we decided that it needed to be more clear what was going to be destroyed. This is really important for levels with things moving around!

The reflection spell has gone through a number of revisions. It used to just bounce right back where it came from, but that wasn't exactly exciting gameplay. It's been updated now to be more like air hockey, and the reflected, purified blast has some homing capabilities as well!

Anyways, very pleased to be able to share the reflection spell overlay!

While loading some of Peter's levels to set the target scores for them I found that there was some slowdown when a bunch of orbs got added to the level. Slowdown is especially bad for a game as twitchy as Siphon Spirit is, and I've got a fairly nice computer (though nothing to brag about). For people with lower end machines, most levels might feel a bit sluggish.

So I did some testing. Made a level that just had hundreds of Demonic Voids floating up and down. And man, that was a lot of slowdown. This let me check the profiler to see just what was so heavy. It turned out to be the 2D physics. This threw me off because I wasn't using any physics. The unity triggers to let me know if the orbs were getting close to each other were doing a LOT behind the scenes that I didn't know about and had no real control over.

This of course meant that I should completely rewrite the collision code myself. Brilliant!

All the secret levels are now done and in the game. With the exception of the final map secret levels which need some more stuff from Peter before I can plan those out. Currently replaying all the levels looking for problems and setting the correct target scores and times.

Whenever I have trouble designing a level I focus on the main mechanic and walk away from the computer. I keep walking until I get some inspiration. Almost halfway done planning out the secret levels!
