"If You Build It, They Will Come"
After watching the 2010 Vancouver Olympics (where eventual 2018 Olympic gold-medalist John Shuster skipped the US men’s rink), a handful of dedicated Upstate curling enthusiasts banded together to form the Palmetto Curling Club in Greenville, South Carolina. With nothing but a dream and the sheer will to bring the awesome sport of curling to the area, the club qui
ckly obtained rocks, brooms, and equipment to begin league play at a local multi-purpose ice rink. After many years of hard work and growth, the Palmetto Curling Club is firmly established and enjoys an energetic, broad, and engaged membership that represents the very best of southern curling at community events throughout the Upstate, as well as at bonspiels around the country. Building upon this growth and enthusiasm, Palmetto Curling Club is now looking ahead to bring a dedicated curling facility to the Upstate region. To build a dedicated facility will take the same engine that has created much of the greatness of the Upstate – collaboration. With this goal in mind, the Palmetto Curling Club looks to forge sporting and volunteer relationships among its members and supporters, so that people in the Upstate can have fun participating in this lifelong sport. The Palmetto Curling Club is a member of the Grand National Curling Club (“GNCC”), the regional organization overseeing curling on the east coast; through the GNCC, members of the Palmetto Curling Club are members of the United States Curling Association. The Palmetto Curling Club is a South Carolina non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.
