📰: Hunters Can Now Apply for the 2025 Maryland Black Bear Hunt Lottery

Hunters can now enter the lottery selection process for the annual six-day black bear hunt in Western Maryland. The cost to enter the lottery is $15 and applications can be purchased from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) through August 31.

Opening weekend of gun season in Maryland was an interesting one to say the least. Some of the boys headed out to the mountains of Garrett county just find nothing but high winds and cold snow with no deer even sighted but one hell of a interesting encounter with a big black bear. Meanwhile back home made it through the high winds of saturday not seeing any deer except this good looking ten point. He made some adjustments and was able to get close to him and close the deal sunday morning. Congrats brother!

“With working, school 3 times a week, kids weekly appointments, final exams, LIFE and every little thing that falls in between I’ve been EXHAUSTED! I barely know what day it is sometimes. But Joe Kraft sending me pictures everyday showing several bucks taunting the cameras and each time I slip back there it’s dead 💀😒...I’m annoyed.

I had to be at work by 9:00 this morning so I sat my butt in a cold, wet blind at 5:45 and waited for this sucker! 6:40 a.m he paced back and forth making me doubt every possible opportunity and even making me think I missed the shot. Want to talk about frustration? I think I gave Joe hell the entire time trying to find him because I was in my feelings and really should have slept in BUT then I would have missed this 🦌”

So Prostaffer Ray Fiorenza Jr got it done this weekend. On a small private parcel he killed a doe with his bow at 4pm on 10-21-22 and less then 24 hr later killed a mature 8 point at Meade Natural Heritage Association. This is public land and deer have been hit hard with EHD there so it nice to see success. Using his JX3 saddle a a seat low to the ground. His 8 point was shot with a muzzleloader at 120 yards with no tracking needed.
