ABOUT
• According to records located in the local Blair Press, in the Blair-Preston library, the
Taylor Rod and Gun Club held their first meeting in April, 1947; after having a
membership drive and acquiring 225 members. Officers were local business owners;
Palmer Dahl, President, Gen Kocum, Vice President, M.F. Woodhull, Secretary, and Morris
Casper, Treasurer.
• The
Club purchased their first parcel of land (where the current modern buildings are), in
April of 1955. They purchased the second parcel of land (pond area) in January of 1962. In 1965 the Club became Incorporated as a Non-stock, Not for Profit, Corporation.
• With the help of the soil conservation service, the club designed and put into use the
current fishing pond. They also had a facility for raising pheasants, which were planted
locally; though this facility no longer exists. The Club maintains a rifle/gun sighting range
and one trap thrower and shooting set-up. Over the years the Club has held many
events and fund raisers, inclusive of an Oyster Stew fund raiser, Field Days, Snowmobile
races, a Pony Pull, Hunter Safety classes, Ice Fishing Contest, Log rolling contest, Pancake
breakfasts, Pickup/3-Wheeler/Camper/Cash Party fund raisers, and Trap League events
are all in the mix of fun activities held to keep the Club active in the community. UPCOMING EVENTS
