Over the past few months, you have followed along with us as we completed the full renovation of the training fields at Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico.

Today, it is a source of great pride to see those fields performing at their highest level and already serving their purpose on the international stage.

The training center is now hosting the South Korea National Team as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup, a moment that reflects the hard work, planning, and dedication invested throughout this project.

Congratulations to everyone involved. The entire Chivas team, the World Sports USA team, and all the professionals who contributed to making this project a success.

Seeing these fields ready for the world’s biggest football event is something we are truly proud of.

Can you use a Fraze Mower on a stitched field?

The answer is yes.

One of the most common misconceptions about stitched pitches is that the synthetic fibers prevent major renovation work. In reality, a Fraze Mower can be used successfully on stitched surfaces when the operation is properly planned and executed.

The key is precision.

The frazing depth is carefully controlled to remove the organic layer and surface vegetation while preserving the synthetic fibers installed within the profile. This allows the field to be renovated while maintaining the structural benefits provided by the stitching system.

When was the last time you aerated your field?

One of the biggest challenges in sports turf management is compaction. Every game, training session, maintenance operation, and even rainfall event gradually reduces the amount of air available in the rootzone.

That is where aeration comes in.

By creating channels through the soil profile, aeration improves oxygen exchange, enhances water infiltration, stimulates deeper root growth, and helps relieve compaction. The result is a healthier, more resilient turf capable of recovering faster from wear and performing at a higher level.

So when should you aerate?

The answer depends on factors such as field usage, soil type, compaction levels, and the grass species. High traffic fields often require multiple aeration events throughout the year to maintain optimal performance.

The important thing is not to wait until the symptoms appear on the surface. By the time turf quality declines, the problem has often been developing below ground for months.

When was the last time you sent a soil sample from your field to a laboratory?

Many turf managers can tell you the mowing height, irrigation schedule, and fertilizer program. Far fewer can tell you the current pH, nutrient availability, salinity levels, or what is happening in the rootzone.

What’s beneath the grass is just as important as the grass itself.

In high performance sports fields, the sand layer below the turf plays a critical role in how the surface performs day after day.

Why sand?

Because it creates a more stable and permeable rootzone, allowing faster water infiltration, better oxygen exchange, deeper root development, and more consistent playing conditions. It also helps reduce compaction and improves recovery after intense usage.

High performance sports surfaces can no longer be evaluated only by appearance.

A field may look visually perfect while still presenting compaction levels, surface hardness, traction, or energy return conditions that directly impact the risk of injuries for athletes and even horses in equestrian sports.

That is why measurement and data collection have become such an important part of modern turf management.

One of the technologies helping us elevate this process is the Raw Stadia system, already widely used across the Premier League and some of the most important sports venues in Europe.

A new turf profile for one of the most iconic stadiums.

The new surface at Estadio Banorte in Mexico now features a combination of Kentucky Bluegrass and Ryegrass, replacing the previous Kikuyu based system.

This transition represents a major technical evolution for the stadium. In Mexico City’s climate and altitude conditions, the combination of Kentucky Bluegrass and Ryegrass delivers a denser, more uniform, and higher performance surface, with excellent recovery capacity, stronger visual quality, and superior playability throughout periods of intense use.

Ryegrass plays a key role in providing fast establishment, vibrant color, refined texture, and consistent ball roll, characteristics highly valued in elite soccer environments. Combined with the regenerative strength and density of Kentucky Bluegrass, the result is a more stable and resilient pitch designed for the demands of top level international competition.

Did you know that the synthetic fibers used in a stitched field extend deep into the soil profile?

In most stitching systems, the fibers are installed approximately 180 mm deep, creating a reinforced rootzone structure that helps stabilize the natural grass surface under intense use and high traction demands.

Only a very small portion of the fiber remains above the surface. The result is a hybrid system where the synthetic reinforcement becomes virtually invisible within the natural turf, preserving the look, feel, and playability of a fully natural grass field while significantly improving stability, durability, and recovery capacity.

It is one of the key technologies behind many of today’s elite stadium surfaces and FIFA level pitches.

Sharp reels do not happen by accident. Proper sharpening technique makes all the difference in cut quality and turf health.

During our recent training at the facility in the United Kingdom, one of the key lessons shared by their specialists was the importance of using a water based grinding paste instead of an oil based product during the sharpening process.

Why does this matter?

Because after sharpening, the paste must be completely removed from the reel and bottom blade assembly. Water based compounds can be properly washed away, preventing residue from remaining in the cutting unit. If leftover grinding paste stays on the mower, it continues acting like an abrasive compound during operation, accelerating wear and compromising cutting performance over time.

Small technical details like this are what separate a standard cut from a truly high performance mowing operation.
