Our MMA team is led by Mike Yanez, Starting his Coaching career in Kentucky he produced his first two years a team that achieved 106 wins inside the cage! Being a 3rd degree black belt under Pablo Popovitch, Mike started teaching Jiu Jistu under team Popovitch in 2002. Mike has competed in Freestyle and Greco wrestling at AAU tournaments, also a numerous amount of Jiu Jitsu competitions. One of his biggest achievements was winning the Arnolds multiple times! After having his professional MMA fights, Mike started Highlander fight team in 2007. Mike began teaching full time in 2008 in Tampa where he started the first sanctioned amature MMA event in the state of Florida - Battle of Tampa. Mike has produced multiple MMA champions and implemented the importance of wrestling within the mixed martial arts community. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student Mike gives you 100% attention making sure you understand the proper fundamentals in every technique that can be used. At our school we welcome all newcomers whether you are wanting to join as a hobbyist, to get in shape, or have aspirations to compete. All are welcome at JPSMMA. What separates our team is the family atmosphere. We deeply care about each individual that steps on the mats, being able to accomplish the goals they set out to achieve.
