The 2020 Sunshine State ACS Florida State Championships has been cancelled.
We have been in close contact with our Florida ACS league operators, players, and league locations to determine how to proceed with the 2020 ACS Florida State Championships. These individuals brought multiple issues to our attention. Issues such as:
1. Some of our “at risk” players are not ready to be in large groups and would not attend the tournament.
2. Some of our players have been without jobs for multiple weeks and cannot afford the cost to participate in the tournament.
3. Multiple locations that host ACS leagues have been closed for multiple weeks and need pool players back in leagues.
4. Not knowing what COVID 19 restrictions will be placed on the tournament.
Sunshine State ACS listened to all of you and have decided it was best to cancel the 2020 ACS Florida State Championships. Just as the ACS National Championships said, “we can only hope you can understand the difficult decision we made.”.
Everyone looks forward to seeing old friends and competing in a State championship. Therefore, at this time we are recommending that our Florida ACS leagues work with players and locations to develop a plan for starting local leagues back up while minimizing health risks. We also recommend that leagues work with their locations and run local tournaments that benefit both players and locations a like.
We will post information about the 2021 ACS Florida State Championships as soon as it is available. The ACS Florida State Championships are generally scheduled for the last weekend in July.
