Grizzly Jon's Scuba I am an independent PADI IDC Staff Instructor, EFR and DAN Instructor Jon grew up in New Hampshire and enlisted in the US Army in 1988.

He graduated from the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He started diving recreationally in the late-90’s, while completing the “James Bond Challenge” of being an avid climber, diver, skier, marksman, pilot, and parachutist. He retired from the Army in 2012, grew a beard, gained the name “Grizzly Jon”, and has since shared his passion for diving whenever and wherever he wants. He became a PADI profe

ssional in 2014 and has worked as a Divemaster/Instructor on dive boats in the Bahamas, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Florida, and California. Jon can instruct in multiple dive specialty courses and teaches offshore/wilderness emergency medicine under Emergency First Response (EFR) (CPR/AED/Adult and Child Care) and Divers Alert Network (DAN) (Prepared Diver, CPR Health Care Provider with AED, Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life, Neurological Assessments, Diver Emergency Medical Provider (DEMP), Diving First Aid for Dive Professionals (DFA Pro)). Looking for something fun for kids this summer! Come join the Calypso PADI Mermaid Swim Camp, a captivating five-day adventure designed to ignite your child's imagination! Each day features a 180-minute class in which kids wear Cape Cali mermaid tails and Linden monofins, gracefully gliding through the water. Our certified PADI Mermaid Instructor will prioritize safety through on-site certified assistance, strict supervision, and established safety protocols. They'll build core strength, enhance coordination, and master mermaid swimming techniques, all while having an incredible, fun-filled experience. Perfect for keeping kids active and inspired, this course also offers aspiring mermaids an exceptional opportunity to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of mermaid diving. Students will have the chance to earn a PADI certification. At the end of camp, each child will go home with a small Mermaid goodie bag.
