Shaving The Strokes

Most golfers decelerate on their short putts, because they have a
backstroke that is too long and then on the downswing the brain
says....

"You're going to hit it too far, slow down, slow down,"
.. so they do. And we all know the result.

To stop this from happening, here is a simple drill you can and
should do.

First, find a straight-forward 4-foot putt on the practice green, and
place a ball down at this distance. Now straight back from your
ball place a tee in the green 3 inches directly behind on a line going
towards the hole. Once you've got this setup, just putt as normal.
But obviously if you take your putter back past 3 inches, you'll hit
the tee.

When doing this drill, simply concentrate on making a shorter
backswing and a longer follow-through, which is what you want.
So just keep hitting putts to ingrain this feel. To further enhance
the feeling of accelerating your putter head through the ball, simply
move the tee closer to your ball so you have to follow-through
even more.

Doing simple drills like this can cut a lot of strokes from your scores.

Crap!

Years ago I played golf with a golfer who was playing
army golf...

Left, Right, Left, Right
..but around the greens and on the greens he was amazing.

After holing ANOTHER putt to save par, he rubbed it in
even more saying...

"And it's only a crappy $20 putter from Wallmart!"

Look...

The golf equipment companies want you to believe that
a new putter is going to help you hole more putts.

But the truth is...

If you believe in your putter (no matter what it is) and you
do the fundamentals needed for great putting, then... you
can putt great with anything.
