PLAYING BUT NOT ENJOYING IT

When did golf become more about managing your body than enjoying the game?

Back pain. Knee pain. Shoulder problems. Injuries. Surgeries. Injections.

Maybe you’re still playing—but something has changed.

You’ve lost yardage.
You’ve lost rotation or flexibility.
Your consistency has changed.
You fatigue sooner.
It takes longer to recover after a round.

Or you’ve had to stop playing altogether.

After an injury or surgery, the muscle system doesn’t simply return to its old state. It adapts.

So instead of only asking, “Where does it hurt?” I want to know:

What can your muscle system actually do now?

Where can you produce force? What happens in the positions your golf swing requires? What changes with rotation and fatigue? Are other areas compensating?

My job isn’t to teach your golf swing.

My job is to help determine whether your body has the capacity to perform it.

Assess the system. Build capacity. Add the demands of golf. And work toward getting you back to enjoying the game—not just surviving 18 holes.

CLEARED BUT NOT READY

Injury. Surgery. Injections. Rehab. Physical therapy.

Then comes the word every young athlete has been waiting for:

CLEARED.

But cleared for what?

Being medically cleared to participate doesn’t automatically mean the athlete has regained the capacity to perform at their pre-injury level.

An injury—and everything that happens afterward—changes the environment the muscle system has been adapting to.

So when that athlete returns, I want to know:

Can they produce force where they need it?
Can they maintain it under fatigue?
How quickly do they recover?
Are they compensating somewhere else?
And what happens when we start adding the real demands of their sport?

The goal isn’t simply to get an athlete back on the field.

It’s to understand what changed, determine what capacity still needs to be rebuilt, and bridge the gap between clearance and performance.

Being cleared means you can play.
Being ready means you can perform.

Balance: Putting the Pieces Together

This is where all the testing starts to come together.

With Peter, we’ve identified two important pieces on his left side:

His foot and ankle.
His peripheral visual condition.

So now we’re going back and forth between them.

Foot isometrics. Retest.

Left shoulder isometrics while challenging his peripheral vision. Retest.

Then back to the foot.

As we do this, Peter is able to produce better muscular force through his left leg and left shoulder under conditions that previously caused his output to drop.

Then comes the test that really matters:

Get up and walk.

He’s walking faster. Moving with more confidence. And stepping to his left much better than when we started.

Is he finished? No.

These are baby steps.

But they’re measurable steps in the right direction, and now we know what we can continue building.

That’s what the process looks like.

Find the pieces. Train them. Integrate them. Retest what matters.

This is how I approach complex balance and muscle-system problems as a Certified Muscle System Specialist.

Staying Strong for the Things That Matter

Another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google review.

As a longtime firefighter, years of physical work start to add up. He was dealing with pain that was even affecting something he really enjoys—long rides on his motorcycle.
