PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Natalia Zagorodnikova is a native of Moscow, Russia, where she spent her youth skating and training in the
rink of Moscow’s

premier hockey club, CSKA. Following her competitive career, Natalia decided to bring her
experience and knowledge of skating technique to ice hockey, “the greatest sport on earth’”. Natalia went on
to work with Finnish and Russian NHL prospects and players, as well as women of both the USA and Finnish
National Olympic Teams. Natalia has developed and perfected new teaching methods with a unique
approach based on research in neuroscience and biomechanics. From years of collaboration and experience,
Natalia has created a slide board system; a combination of on-ice and off-ice hockey specific training;
designed to teach skating from its most basic form. This method is extremely functional and efficient for
today’s game of hockey which is faster and more agile than ever. Natalia works with all age groups, to help
them become more confident in their skating abilities, while reaching for the goal of helping her students
become great hockey players. A few of the athletes who have received 1 on 1 training with Natalia:

This is my husband‘s favorite photo of me working. I love this picture.
This little kid is now teenager, playing for a junior team . It’s been a long time since this photo has been taken but I think it’s describes without saying it exactly how I feel about coaching kids.
It is about connection, human , individual connection. Just like technically in skating we’re so different from each other battling and working on different problems , We also different human beings with different interests and different lives circumstances.
I have a privilege to be able to get to know my kids and their parents.
I love knowing how the school is, if they try something different, if they’re good at other sports…. I tried to understand how the parents feel.. sometimes parents are they overwhelmed and tired, sometimes frustrated, sometimes they are confused about what is the best for their child . Life is hard but life also full of joy , part of me, trying to spread the joy and smiles.
This couple of weeks been hard .
This time of the year, one by one,  some kids are going up north to the academies, junior teams, AAA teams. Some of these kids leaving for the first time away from the home . As coaches we are not parents, but we do really worry about the kids, we truly want the best for them. Keeping in touch , making sure to remind them of things they work so hard on doing the lessons while hoping they will adjust well to the new lives and new teams far away from home.❤️❤️❤️
