Sometimes it's really hard to get to the net! Sometimes it takes more than one or two shots. Are you patient enough to wait for the right one? If not, the point is probably over well before this, and you probably came out on the wrong side of it.

When the ball is on your side of the court and opposite you, you have to responsibility to cover the line. Your partner can help you cover the middle but they cannot cover the line. Therefore, be careful to make sure that you do your job by covering that line!

Fernando is new to pickleball and is learning the drop for the first time. Think of the technique like throwing something valuable. To make it move softly, we use our legs and lift through them rather than a big arm movement. We also allow our arm to naturally move up to give the ball lift.

There are many variations to the drop, but this technique shown is a simple but effective way to do it.

This was a fun point to watch, largely played between two players. But I want you to note the partner on the serving team walking toward the net on the third shot drop. I don't recommend this unless you have absolute confidence in your partner's drop.

If your partner doesn't hit a quality drop, you may be waking into someone's volley or smash. It's better to come halfway with your partner and wait to see the outcome of the drop.

Net cords can be so frustrating! But they are also part of the game. While it's easy to let a lucky net cord affect your game, try to accept it and focus on the next point.

When we are receiving serve, we have to make our opponents earn their way to the net. This means being cautiously offensive.

In this rally you can see that the serving team has had no opportunity to advance.
The receiving team are doing their job. However, it's easy to becoming patient and take a risk as is in this case.

Remember that opponents need only 11 mistakes for the win. Therefore, make your opponents win every point.

Gayle came to see me about her forehand drive. At the beginning of the session, you can see that she's loading her weight over front foot and staying low following the swing. Her front foot position is also pointing too far to the left.

By the end of the session, you can see that she's much more balanced, and her center of gravity is more through her body instead of over the front knee.

Small adjustments can make a big difference in your technique and outcome!

A third shot drive is designed to force a defensive shot from your opponent. However, if your opponent is hitting their fourth like this, I suggest testing their consistency. Obviously, this was a great fourth shot, but it could have also been put into the net. So, test them again, but maybe not on the forehand side, and see what you get before changing your strategy. If they're consistently hitting balls back this hard, go to the drop or the other person.
